from Belmont TV Summary: I have the "X" version of the Toshiba 34HDX82, the so called "cinema series". This is a tube-based HD with the usual inputs, plus DVI (480p through 1080i). For a 34" 16:9 TV, it yields an absolutely beautiful picture with the right inputs. I purchased it because: Picture was much nicer than any plasma or projection system at the time (superior black levels); Toshiba is a reliable TV brand; fit into a tight spot. Strengths: o Individual calibrations for each of its 7 inputs- This is a critical feature!
o Speakers on bottom (not on sides, which would have made it wider) - so it fits into more spaces.
o Nice sound quality with lots of options
o Cinema Series has SVM controls, along with DNR. Weaknesses: o Heavy set to move around (it's a tube)
o Some red push noted (I keep the color std on "cool"
o I can't push the contrast high enough to saturate the contrast pluge pattern on the test disk.
o The "input" button on the remote is not highlighted -- a minor annoyance. Similar Products Used: None
