Designed to deliver a big-screen home theater experience in tight spaces, RCA's PHD50500 is a 50" diagonal widescreen plasma HDTV Monitor that features advanced design and technology to create a breathtaking picture, on a screen less than four inches deep. It looks stunning sitting on a table top or mounted on a wall. Featuring technology for superior picture quality, the PHD50500 includes a 3D Y/C Digital Comb Filter, which evaluates both current and future video information to eliminate dot and edge crawl while providing for better transition between scene changes, resulting in a dramatically enhanced picture. The result is a “plasma pop” that knocks the socks off of the other HD monitors I’ve owned. NEC manufactures this plasma unit for Thompson/RCA. The quality, fit and finish are outstanding.
The On-Screen Menu System provides for easy adjustment of most pictures, sound and convenience features using the remote control or TV front-panel buttons. The 50" PHD50500 is an HDTV Monitor with XGA resolution (1280 x 768) in a silver finish, and includes the Hi-Pix picture system to ensure the best possible picture. Even non-HD content like analog cable content look great, and watching progressive DVDs are truly a joy beyond compare. The encased cell structure contains extra-deep plasma cell housings, presenting more accurate color while keeping brightness at optimal level. A black stripe coating absorbs ambient light, minimizing reflections, and increases contrast, even in a bright room. The high purity screen filter is designed to reduce glare and deliver color accuracy, and the10-bit display technology is capable of delivering an extensive range of shading and coloring options, and provides four times better video reproduction than 8-bit displays, which is especially apparent in darker scenes. A 160-degree wide horizontal and vertical viewing angle is achieved whether standing, sitting or lying on the floor. All I know is that the technology all comes together and works great when coupled with an HDTV receiver.
