Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $6000.00 from NOW A/V

Summary:
Fujitsu Plasmavision has a hot product on their hands. the 4203 and 4207 are discontinued but are still around in limited numbers at this writing. They are being replaced with the entry level 4209 at around $7000. The 4203 and 4207 have similar pictures and features. Both have a slightly washed out picture compared to the Sony and Pioneer models which sell for MO MONEY. This monitor is very watchable though. It is remarkable at the price point. Neat feature of being able to block picture at top, bottom and sides for normal 4:3 input but can go wide or zoom(their word not mine) to full 16:9 with no noticeable stretch. Demoed at store with BLACK STALLION DVD. Probably not a good choice. I'm sure BUGS LIFE would have been more appropriate. Note that they did not have cable, DSS or HDTV to demo??? Other HDTV ready sets were running off air HD signal to noticable effect. Non HD sets were running a DVD loop demo??? The 4209 and 4224 are supposed to be out now and much improved over the 4203 and 7. Both are HDTV compatible. All you need is a receiver. One local network in the Raleighwood area is running HDTV over air now and the state has a bond ref. in NOV for PBS to go HDTV. Side note: Sony is still selling 35" trinitron for $999. You can buy 7 or 8 for what the 4209 will cost, but you can't hang them on the wall very easily. Note: flat panel hanging on wall feature has very high wife approval factor.

Strengths:
Price, size and weight, viewing modes

Weaknesses:
Picture

Similar Products Used:
Sony and Pioneer

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
