I'll keep this brief: The picture is stunning and the subtle colors are superior to otherwise excellent competitors such as Panasonic, Samsung (of which I own a smaller model) and LG. By using a single layer of glass, the unit is somewhat lighter than other 60" plasmas and reflections are reduced. I have owned this unit for 7 months and so far no technical problems.
The holy grail of 1080 resolution is greatly exaggerated and depends on how far back from the TV you will be viewing and, of course, your eyesight. We could have purchased the 50" 1080 model but 60 beats 50 every time. Unless you are within 6 feet, you will not see any appreciable difference. We love this TV (and use it with a DirecTV HD TiVo and rarely the internal tuner). We find the scaling of the standard resolution is handled very well, especially when compared to older units.
To date, there isn't an LCD or DLP (except front projection) which comes close to the power of the plasma technology even if it is the older of the three. The subwoofer outlet is very helpful for casual viewing (not bothering with the surround sound system all the time=user friendly).
Bottom line: Plasma is still the best technology out there and Pioneer makes the best Plasmas. No, I have no association with Pioneer. It's just a beautiful set. Strengths:
