Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $1999.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
I wish I had read other reviews before buying Philips, but the price was sooo right! The audio went bad almost immediately (or was it so right away?) with the entire set vibrating and distorting voice at a fairly low level of volume. Three times repaired under warranty, with only a minimal improvement. Then, after two years of only accasional use, it stopped working altogether. As per technician, the power supply board needed replacement, with the total cost including labor and tax of $823.00. Called Philips customer care only to hear that my warranty was over and they could not help me. At this cost, it is not worth repairing, so I am looking for an advice how to dispose of this Philips product in an environmentally friendly way.

Strengths:
When it worked, I liked the possibility to display pictures directly from the flash drive.

Weaknesses:
Design (audio) and reliability.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $7000.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
I have owned a Philips 42" plasma since 2002, and have had nothing but problems with it. The unit has been warrantied twice, with the entire screen being replaced both times, and the power unit replaced the second time. It is now suffering from power problems and is not turning on at all. It has always been connected to a quality surge protector. After numerous attempts to resolve this issue through their customer service, I was told that they would not help with any repair work, not even sharing the expense of parts and labor, despite the history of problems with this unit. I would not recommend a Philips television, and will never buy another Philips component again. Besides, for the money, other brands offer better picture and processing/features.

Strengths:
none, compared to other models from other manufacturers.

Weaknesses:
Poor customer service, repeated screen and power supply problems.

Similar Products Used:
None yet, but will be replacing it with either a Pioneer, Panasonic or Samsung plasma.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $3300.00 from circut city

Summary:
42 inch Philips plasma ambilight stopped working after 4 months. Philips told me it was a bad control board. I'm waiting for tv to be fixed for over a month, and nothing has been done. The answer I'm getting is that they do not have a part. In the meantime, I'm out of money, out of TV and out of some more money since I had to purchase another 23 inch tv to stay in touch with the world. If anyone has any advice, please email me at cecalis@msn.com Thanks to all, Alex

Strengths:
I would think twice before buying another Philps plasma

Weaknesses:
Apparently, control board
