Summary:
The picture clarity is fabulous for 43 inches. I previously owned a 36" Zenith and was wary about purchasing a larger TV since I live in an apartment.

My major reasons for buying the TV are the picture clarity when standing only 2 feet away and the price. I have digital cable and the picture is crystal clear. I do reccommend connecting a home audio system for the Dolby Pro Logic surround sound. I have viewed DVD using the color stream connections--the only way to watch DVD.

Strengths:
Very sharp and clear picture. The price makes this very affordable. It fits in the smallest of space.

Weaknesses:
I have no complaints

Summary:
After purchasing my Pioneer Elite VSX-26TX receiver, Polk RM6500 speakers and Pioneer DV-414 dvd player last year, I've been in the market for a RPTV. The sound from my system was much "too large" for my 27". I read everything I could, visited many showrooms and considered the analog vs. digital debate for some time. While the digital tv's were nice, they weren't nice enough to compel me to spend $1,000+ over what I paid for the Toshiba. I compared the Toshiba side-by-side against the digitals in the showrooms and the differences were very minute. After recieving the Toshiba, which for $1,350 included the screen guard and the stand, I let the unit warm up to room temperature before powering on. After turning it on, the setup was very easy. I found that the factory settings for contrast and brightness were at 100% so after checking the convergence, I immediately calibrated the set using VE. I did this first with my dvd player connected to the composite input then repeated while connected to the component inputs. There seemed to be a 10% difference in the tint adjustment. After a little compromise, I began watching movies and there are many scenes that look 3-D, such as in The Gladiator and the guys walking in the woods in October Sky. With the component inputs, the edges are well defined with no color bleed. This set WILL keep me happy for at least the next 5 years (in my mind, this is when I might make the switch to digital). The person below that complained of the remote must have small hands, I actually like the balance of it. Between my VSX-26TX receiver andf the two antenna inputs, three video inputs and the component inputs on the Toshiba, I have more flexibility than I'll ever need. There is no buyer's remorse here!

Compact size(only 18" deep), very clear and well defined picture, easy setup, component inputs

Weaknesses:
The only thing found so far is that the tint adjustment doesn't seem to hold exact calibration between composite and component inputs.

Summary:
You get all the benefits of a big screen with none of the drawbacks: a big, bright picture that isn't washed out like some of the bigger rear projectors. The screen is small enough to hide the limitations of cable and big enough to show off the sharpness of a "component in" dvd source. This set balances off many of the conventional problems of a rear projector. Plus, it's got a small enough footprint to place it into an wall unit without sacrificing aesthetics. Not like the unit itself isn't beautiful. It's got a clean cabinet and frame that hilights the picture and not the TV. It competes with the sony very well for a lower pricepoint. I ended up with the Toshiba because I like the richness of the picture better and I didn't need to pay for sony's better sound system.

As for weaknesses, the sound doesn't live up to the picture quality. You've got to keep it cranked to get any sort of performance out of it - but if you've got a home theater sound system, it really isn't much of a problem. The remote should be rethought to give it some balance. It works great to manipulate the controls on the lower portion (like pip) but when changing channels the remote is unbalanced and unusable when you want to use the numbered keypad.

Clear, bright, crisp picture; excellent component video in performance; Perfect size; Excellent value for the money

Weaknesses:
Remote is not balanced (Yes, that's being picky); sound coud be a bit better

I love this tv it has an owsome picture and it sounds fine to me although I'm fixing to buy a theatre sound for it.It has the perfect size screen it's not too big or two small.I have recomended this tv too all my friends and I would you too. shop around before you buy I got mine for $1,200.00 I know you want to buy it but if you shop around you can get a sound system for it with the $ you save. Have fun shopping.

Summary:
Unlike one of the other reviews, I found my cable picture quality got better with this tv compared to my regular television. After purchasing this set, I took it home and put it beside my conventional set, and turned all the lights on in the room. I found the picture quality to be very good, and I didn't notice any wash-out that is typical of other big screen tv's. Also, at only 18" deep it fits in more places than most tv's. I only have two grudges, and they are minor: The sound is good, but not amazing, however if you've made it to this web site you probably have a separate audio system anyway. I wish they could sell it to you without sound and give it to you cheaper. That brings me to my other point... for a 43" tv it is pretty expensive, I could have got a 50" for a few hundred less, but I was looking for quality more than size, which is why I'm still giving it a good rating. To get better quality than this you would have to spend some very serious cash and get an HDTV.
