Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $2200.00 from P.C. Richards & Son

Summary:
I purchased this unit 2 years ago and from the time I turned it on I had zero problems and a nice clear pic. although I did have to put a signal booster on my cable line, and for dvd's the pic is perfect. I am looking forward to getting a home theater system hooked up to it soon. But I am very pleased overall with the sets performance.
The only thing i wish it were wide screen format and it would be nice if you could change the settings for the different pic modes. But for the price you can't beat it.

Strengths:
Clear picture, Price, Doesn't take up alot of room
Multiple Video Sources, HDTV Compatible

Weaknesses:
slow changes between componets

Similar Products Used:
none

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $1920.00 from Video Only

Summary:
When I purchased the TV, 10/2000, I was in heaven. I never had a problem with it, except for the random convergences slips, that "just happened" WHen I moved the TV, I usually had to reconverge, and sometimes, I wowuld have to reset it, as it would slightly slip out. 8/20/01 the TYV flashed, and I was not able to reset the convergence. I called Toshiba, and they suggested "Sharper Video". They Replaced the DCU, then screwed up all the vertical convergence lines. I had them out 5 times to work on the TV, then called Toshiba to have a real company work on the problem. it took toshiba customer service (4) weeks to DECIDE to alow someone else to work on the TV. I even sent a letter outlining my issues, and complaints. When it was approved I called another company. They promptly sent someone out, and picked up my TV. They had my unit for (3) Weeks, and when they returned it, I immediately called the shop, and explained that NOTHING had changed. THey send a Tech out, who immediately saw the problem, and went back to discuss the problem. I am now in the process of contacting Toshiba to get a replacement, as this TV is obviously unrepairable. I am rating the value and overall rating very low

Strengths:
(2) Component In, Multiple Video In Sources. HDTV Compatible, Built in Protection Screen. Ability to View Screen at any angle

Weaknesses:
Weak Audio, TIme Swithing channels or between components, BLue Volume Bar Take a while to go away

Similar Products Used:
Researched all Sony, Hitachi, 50 Screens when I searched for a TV for purchase

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
