Review 1 of 28

Price Paid:  $1300.00 from BrandsmartUSA (Flori

Summary:
Absolutley love this TV. I got a great deal on it, brand new, from Brandsmart (video manager is a friend). Picture quality is excellent, good sound. I also have a 65" Mitsubishi (2002) widescreen and the picture quality doesn't come close to the Toshiba. I've had it for 2 years now without any problems at all. Even after two years of owning this unit I am still amazed with the picture quality espesially when I watch a DVD (Toshiba SD6200 Progressive Scan).

Strengths:
Picture, sound, quality, ease of set-up, and reliably.

Weaknesses:
None I've been able to find.

Review 2 of 28

Price Paid:  $3300.00 from Future shop

Summary:
Who said this unit don not have 16:9 squeeze on 480i or 480p? Well after two years of using, if not mistake, I think I found the way to do 16:9 anamorphic squeeze for anamorphic DVDs. It's very simple, wile you start you anamorphic DVD, press Pause on remote and hold it, the screen will turn to multi image mode, stop DVD, play it again. You regular black letter box will disappear, the top and bottom part of the screen now become gray. That’s what happened when I play “Saving Private Ryan”, when I play 2.35:1 anamorphic DVDs .How ever, there’s still a black strip between the picture and gray area on top and bottom, which I think it’s every reasonable because the TV squeeze only to 16:9 ratio. If I took the same procedure to play a non-anamorphic DVD, this TV still gives black letter box without gray area. I’ve never seen any real 16:9 anamorphic squeeze before could any one confirm if this is it? My setup is a JVC 521vx none progressive scan DVD player with component video input.

Price Paid:  $2180.00 from onecall.com

Summary:
As stated in my earlier review it was dead on arrival, but, when it was fixed it was well worth the wait. The tv did shut off by itself accompanied by a loud pop. The good news is i figured this problem out. When i set the clock it happened. I stop setting the clock and it hasent happened for allmost 10 months. Digital cable is awesome dvd even better!! I hate to say it but i would buy this set again!!!!

Strengths:
Picture

Weaknesses:
Quality/Reliability???

Price Paid:  $2500.00 from Stereo Plus

Summary:
I am still amazed at image quality after a year. I plugged my Pioneer DV-434 progressive scan. A simple Yamaha RX-V795 drive the Paradigm speakers. The whole system cost me around 4000$US and I get a good bang for the money.
The only bad thing is the TV audio system which is not up to the quality of the set.

Strengths:
Image Quality

Weaknesses:
Audio ( you need an extra audio System)

Review 5 of 28

Price Paid:  $1950.00

Summary:
My 50HX70 set was purchased only for 3 months. Before I purchased it, I visited this website for reviews on Toshiba and Hitachi. Every single brand has its own weaknesses and problems. I ended up purchased Toshiba.

Toshiba Rear Projection has a common problem which is "Turn Off" with no reason, so far, it happened twice to me, but this is not the problem annoying me, I still accept it.

After 1 month, the real problem is top left of my screen is the resolution lines are getting mess up and clarity had been reduced. This is what annoys me. Called up my local service center, they are ordering the part, unfortuneately, part is being backorder, waiting about 2 months now, hopefully the can call me and tell me it arrives.

Perhaps I am the one without luck with this set, I have been told me the technician this is a rare problem.

Good luck to your set!

Strengths:
Picture Quality and Sound

Weaknesses:
Reliablility?
