Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $1999.00 from Futureshop

Summary:
I purchased this set after much research and thought that the size was nice, and the picture was o.k. in the store. Owning a 30" Widescreen HDready set, I was aware of the quality these tv's put out, but was dying to get into a bigger screen. I have to say I was not gambling too much. Some sattelite channels just look superb on this screen. Dvd's look very film like, but I can see myself hooking up through DVI cable to clean up that last bit of scan line only slightly visible during some scenes through component. I can not wait to go High Def through sattelite and really see what this picture can do.

Strengths:
Punchy contrast, accurate flesh tone, vibrant colour. I like the backlit remote, and the sound is pretty good through the tv. Turn off alvs, flesh tone, configure your colour and convergence and set it to a new discovery channel documentary and you'll be amazed at the picture.

Weaknesses:
Some minor scan lines visible during some scenes when hooked through component on dvd. I can't lift it myself but then I wouldn't want to.

Similar Products Used:
Samsung 30" Widescreen HDready TV (comparing tube to rptv for image quality only)

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $1899.00 from Futureshop

Summary:
Price paid was Canadian. I absolutley love this tv. I've been looking for a larger tv for over a year now. It would be nice to be able to afford a Plasma or LDC but settling for this Projection TV is hardly a compromise. It has too many functions to list. The picture quality is one of the best on the market next to Hitachi. It is better than comparable products such as Sony and RCA. The sound is amazing and you can even use the tv's speaker as your centre speaker if you have an a/v receiver for your surround system. It's well worth the price. I could have found more inches for a similar price but the quality of the picture and sound out-weighed the size.

Strengths:
Remote, picture quality, sound, plenty of Jacks.

Weaknesses:
Stand is not very functional. It would be nice to control A/V receiver from tv's remote.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
