Review 1 of 12

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
KDF55WF655 I'm having the same optical block problem many people are having and I was never notified about the recall. I paid $2770 plus $500 extended service plan on 05/2005 which expired 4 months ago. I was happy with the tv unit until I contacted Sony. I'm not buying Sony products any more. They knew about this problem and failed to notify the customers. They claim they did but I don't know how or when as many other custumers.

Summary:
I was just about to order a lamp for my Sony Wega KDF-55WF655 but now decided to just go buy a new set from Samsung after reading all the negative reviews on this page. I would hate to spend money and have the set develop the "blue star screen" issues mentioned here.

Review 3 of 12

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
This review is to warn all people thinking of buying Sony products. I have the KDF55WF655 Sony LCD Projection TV that I bought in 2005 and to say that I regret buying it doesn't express my disappointent loud enough. But, I must agree that when this product actually worked, the picture and sound quality was good.

I too have experienced the same problem with the screen as mentioned by so many Sony users on the internet. The problem started with one little blue star in the middle of the screen and now, after some months, it is like a starry sky - like looking at a still planatarium shot.

My recent experience with Sony's E-Service (Customer Support) and Qualxserv (Sony's maintenance provider) to try and fix the problem has not been positive at all and I shall never buy a Sony product again. While the E-Service person was polite and all that, he acted as if he never heard of the Optical Block problem with Sony. Having done all his usual trouble shooting bits he referred me to their Qualxserv. They wanted $99 to come out and look at the product... Give me a break.... With so many many Sonys exhibiting the same problem, why can't Sony either repair them free or even replace them is beyond me. Don't consumers have any rights any more!?

Review 4 of 12

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Known for a "Optical Block" failure. Goggle the following: "KDF55WF655 Blue Light". Mine didn't go bad until about three months after my 4 yr extended warranty expired. There was a recall be Sony kept it to themselves meaning I was never notified. It's $1,100.00 to repair. I paid $2,995.00 for it. Other than that, I really enjoyed the set. It was great. AQs long as you can get protection from the "Blue light on screen" (usually starts in a bottom corner) it's a good set.

Summary:
I am writing this review to warn all people buying Sony products. I have the KDF55WF655 and can't express my disappointent loud enough. Much like the other commenters I agree that when this product actually works the picture and sound is good. But my recent experience with Qualxserv (Sony's maintenance provider) & Sony Customer Support has taken a once die hard Sony advocate to the brink of never buying a Sony product again. I will not go into a long sob story about the maintenance wows, but after 3 weeks, 3 repair visits & a couple of hours on hold with Sony my television is still not fixed..Buyers beware!!!
