Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $1398.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
TV has been great except for two things. (1) The convergence is off on one side of the screen. Correcting it for that side throws the the other side off. There is no way to balance or individually adjust the corners or sides. This is not usually noticiable however, mostly I noticed it when in a menu (text is very sensitive to convergence problems). (2) The TV won't turn the picture off - this just started after ~2 years of svc. You turn off the TV and the picture (only) comes back on. The only control the TV will respond to is the power button, which turns it back.. umm.. on. Now I have to unplug it when not in use.

Strengths:
Nice picture, good price.

Weaknesses:
Seems to be unreliable

Similar Products Used:

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $1500.00 from HH Gregg

Summary:
After 2 years with this TV the picture went black. Spoke to the Samsung authorized repair tech and he indicated the picture tube was leaking, which apparently is very common and which Samsung knew about when this model was sold. There are apparently >10,000 leaky picture tubes with this model which destroys the board = $2000 to replace = total loss. Samsung has stuck their head in the sand and ignored this problem ever existed, and are still doing so.

Weaknesses:
Poor, deceptive, dis-honest corporation. No customer support for products

Review 5 of 7

Price Paid:  $1300.00

Summary:
This TV was fine until just before its three year "birthday." One night while watching it, the TV made a hissing noise and went black. After having Samsung's authorized service center come out to look at it, we were told that "pretty much everything was broken inside of it" and that it would cost over $2000 (more than what we paid for it) to fix. The fact that there are multiple parts needing repair seems ridiculous to us considering the fact that we had no prior problems and the TV is only three years old. We have contacted Samsung several times over a six week period to see if any of the repairs would be covered by Samsung only to get the run-around with every person we talk to. Needless to say, we are planning on buying a new big screen TV and we are definitely not even looking at a Samsung. When we bought this TV, we were impressed with the price as well as the picture, however, we're disappointed that after three years we are already having to replace it.

Strengths:
Good price. Head on picture was good. Easy to use remote control.

Weaknesses:
No picture when viewed from the side. Customer service is awful.
