Review NaN of , from Cape Coral, FL

Price Paid:  $1800.00 from Sears

Summary:
This set had the best picture and most features compared to any sub-$3,500 TV at the time (Dec '99). I am still wowed when I look at it 2 years later. NOTE: as with any big screen, a clean signal is required. Poor signals such as standard cable look bad on a screen this size. Satellite looks fantastic through S-Video while component inputs (DVD, Xbox) are flawless. The set will hold me over until HDTV is mainstream (cheaper).

I did alot of shopping before purchase and Philips was not a brand I was looking for, but when compared side by side to Sony's and Hitachi's of the same size (costing almost twice as much) the Philips looked better. I would highly recommend this set to anyone, just make sure you purchase the screen protector as it seems to improve sharpness. I've seen recent prices for the 60" around $1,500 and the 55" as low as $1,100 at Best Buy.

Strengths:
Value, performance

Weaknesses:
none
