Price Paid:  $2100.00 from Fry's

Summary:
I just got this set last week and calibrated it right away with the Avia DVD after letting it run for a day watching movies with bright colors like Toy Story 2, Yellow Submarine, The Fifth Element Superbit and Shrek.

One thing I noticed out of the box is the contrast is set at max and sharpness is way too high. I turned contrast at halfway and sharpness almost all the way down.

After calibrating with the Avia, contrast should be at 1/4, tint 4 clicks after halfway, sharpness almost all the way down (maybe 1/16 of the bar), brightness at halfway and color same as tint.

Using a Pioneer DV563AS DVD player, the progressive picture (480p) using component cables is a sight to behold. I've never seen colors so vivid and noticed some hues I've never noticed before. I rewatched Attack of the Clones, LOTR: The Two Towers, Monsters, etc to double-check tint and color. My Avia disc paid off once again.

One thing I've noticed, I can't make the convergence perfect. The top left 1/8 and top right 1/8 corners are a little squeezed to the center by a bit (2 clicks maybe, it's really no big deal). I guess only an ISF calibration will fix this. I'll let this go for now and recalibrate in about a month.

The 2 small speakers are not bad but I'll be buying some 6.1 speakers and a receiver soon.

I can't review the 1080i picture yet because the cable is not on yet. I will as soon as I get it next week.

Strengths:
Picture quality

Weaknesses:
No HD tuner inside (which I don't want anyway, I wanna pick my own)

Similar Products Used:
Phillips 50", Toshiba 55"

Summary:
Mitsubishi TV's have the most amazing picture I've ever seen. I also like all the extra features this one came with. I would highly recommend this series or any other Mitsubishi series sets.
