Strengths:    picture quality is great- i use mine as my computer monitor

Weaknesses:    Lamps cost $400-$800 and have to be replaced every 4000 hours (~1-2 years)
Also the viewing modes (wide screen, full, fill, etc) are not all available for every input. For example, with PC RGB input you can't use fill.
Long delay between changing channels.

Bottom Line:

Strengths:    Sharp, crisp picture. Great viewing from all parts of a room.

Weaknesses:    DLP lamp unit lasts only about 1,500 hours and costs $700 to replace. The manual says it should last around 4,000 hours. Hitachi has no explanation.

Bottom Line:
The DLP TV has excellent color and is very crisp when tuned to a HDTV channel. The screen is quite viewable from the sidelines of a room. The major costly disappointment is the lamp has needed to be replaced at about every 1500 hours. The set is well ventilated. This is a very expensive television and it performs well, but be aware that replacement lamp units are around $700 and 1500 hours is not a lot of TV viewing.
