$0.00 Summary: After much research, I settled on the Hitachi 43 and am very happy with my decision. The television produces a fabulous picture (with satellite feed), and DVD's are outstanding. Scan-lines are virtually non-existant. The brightness on this tv is unbelieveable. Having said that, I recommend turning the brightness and contrast down as soon as you take it out of the box in the interest of protecting your screen. I had the the brightness at about 38% and was still pleased with the picture--a testament to how bright the picture is. I thought about going with the Sony 43 , but the picture on the Hitachi was better after many side by side comparisons, and there is really no comparing to the Hitachi for picture brightness. Additionally, I was told (and could not confirm otherwise) that the Sony does not aspect adjustment, while the Hitachi has 5 aspect ratio adjustments accessible from the remote. This is a key feature that is important to any projection television. The Sony colours looked off on every television that I viewed at several different dealers, while the Hitachi, Toshiba and others were consistently good. This is not a slam Sony review--I have many of their products and have been very happy with them. I simply think the Hitachi 43 is a superior product.
Enjoy the awesome picture! Strengths: Easy to use remote-not too cluttered with useless buttons.
Great picture-exceptional brightness and clarity.
Easy adjust aspect ratio from remote.
Magic focus--easy routine convergence adjustment. Weaknesses: Audio is average, although it can be improved by adjusting settings.
