Velodyne Acoustics MiniVee Subwoofers

DESCRIPTION

This incredibly compact amplifier has a Kevlar reinforced resin cone and delivers 2000 dynamic watts for an ultra-dramatic sound. Velodynes exclusive Dynamic Driver Control System assures limited distortion for very clean, tight and accurate bass while its patented Energy Recovery System lets it handle gigantic power. There's nothing small about the MiniVee when it comes to power or performance. The 8" MiniVee starts with Velodyne's highest quality Class D digital amplifier cranking out 2000 watts dynamic power and 1000 watts RMS. Look inside and you'll find a massive 12.7 lb. magnet structure, a stiff Kevlar-reinforced driver cone, oversized spider and vented pole piece. Add it all up and you have a sub that produces deep, loud bass with low distortion. All of this comes wrapped up in a stylish black pica matte vinyl wrap. So whether you're listening to music or movies you won't find anything else that combines small size, accuracy, and efficiency at such a low price

Strength:

in-expensive for a pretty serious sub! Pounds hard in a smallish space, sounds pretty accurate.

Weakness:

None so far.....

I was torn between the SPL1000r and this compact mini-sub. I had just sold my old CHT-12 in favour of a sealed sub of sorts. I came to the conclusion that the 1000 might have been a bit overkill in smallish apartment, so I settled on the minivee. I must say this is a pretty serious sub for such a small price and cabinet! The bass just seems unreal for the size of this sub. It has a bottem end of 28Hz and 2000 watts of dynamic power from a class D amp. A nice little package indeed. I havent listened to too much music yet, but what i have heard sounds good thus far. Tight and punchy, yet deep and very believable. The Rasclaz "Cash Crop" pounded heavily , while "Phantom Power" from the tragically hip sounded quite solid and accurate. I look at this diminutive minivee and chuckle, thinking of the old CHT-12 and its minifridge sized cabinet(very macho). But in all honesty the minivee is no laughing matter! Take a listen if your interested in a $1000ish space saving woofer.
