Strength:

Great sound that fills a large room. Bipole/dipole option.

Weakness:

hard to find speaker stands big enough for them.

Very good speakers that match up well with my older Polk monitors. Bipole/dipole option is a nice addition. Sound is excellent and loud.

Strength:

Tight - crisp sound; Balanced highs and lows; They are *not* location specific (though the manual says so) - you can place them 6 ft apart and @ 9 ft up (reco: 6 ft) and you'd still get the same effects.

Weakness:

Dipole/Bipole switch could have been outside; May be a bit brighter for music (so make sure you have big mains in your setup (if you play 5-Ch Stereo). Not recommended for use with HTIB or cube speaker systems (ofcourse!).

Excellent surround speaker pair. I was almost sold on Klipsch's until I listened to these. They blew the Klipsch's away from my mind. The 5-Ch Stereo never sounded better since I got these. If you have a receiver with ProLogic II - you will be in heaven with the quality of these speakers.

Strength:

Excellent sound.

Weakness:

Large size sticks out quite a ways from the wall.

These speakers provide excellent sound. They are very big for surround speakers but that seems to help them provide a fuller, richer sound than smaller ones such as the little satellite cubes. I also considered the Bose 161 speakers for the back (they are smaller and cheaper) but I am glad that I chose these Polk Audio. The wedge shape sends sounds out both sides which seems to add even more to the surround effect. I use them with a Denon AVR-1802 receiver. The speakers sound good with music too when I use the 5-channel stereo mode on the receiver.

Strength:

Great Sound, Bipole/Dipole switchable, Placement Flexability, They look cool.

Weakness:

none

These speakers are amazing. They sound great and produce a very enveloping surround effect. They are also a bit more forgiving when it comes to placement thanks to the Bipole/Dipole switch. This is the first set of speakers that has been able to fill the rear of my room with sound. They blend perfectly with the rest of my system witch consists of RT25's, CS175i, and a PSW350. Polk has made an outstanding speaker for the price.

Strength:

The clearest and most accurate rear surround I have ever added to the system.

Weakness:

Bass response.

This speaker is great for a relatively small room. The sounds is spacious and enveloping. I first run the rear signal through a non-powered dual 5 1/4 subwoofer and then to the Polks. These speakers are a suprising combination of presence and soft accuracy. Their soft dome tweeters seem to effortlessly blend with my center (dual Infinity CC-3s) and my mains (Infinity Overture 1s).

The one drawback I can think of is bass response: These speakers are confident but they should have some reinforcement.

Overall, a great experience.

Soundfield, features, price

Worth their price. I lucked out and bought an open box special at Circuit City for $340/pair and based on the previous reviews and other reviews, not at all regretful...in fact, damn pleased with the purchase. I am sure there may be other speakers that may do a better job, but not at even the full retail price. I have read about Klipsch's and I am not willing to pay $800/pr for surround speakers.

These, isolated from other comparisons are FANTASTIC. I use Onkyo 676 with matching Polks all around and everything from satellite to DVD sound great.

These babies kick butt! Expansive surround field from these very nice speakers. Saving Private Ryan (DTS) is absolutely a joy to watch and listen to with these surrounds. You can truly tell where the bullets / bombs start and where they end up. Highly recommended for the sound they produce and the high wife acceptance factor for their looks!

Strength:

Very clean, crisp highs, and nice bass response from these little wedgies!

Weakness:

Heavier than I thought they would be.. but they are very solid in construction. So weight is not really a weakness I would say.

I took a big chance on these speakers. No one in my home town carried them.. mainly because they had just been released. It takes time for new products to reach us up here sometimes in the smaller cities in the Northwest. Anway, i bought them without hearing them. I bought them on Ebay, new so I knew I would have a warrenty if anything happened to them. Anyway, thats not why you're reading this. You want to know how well they sound. They sound incredible to say the least. I was blown away how much I was missing by not having good surrounds. I did have rear speakers hooked up to my Marantz SR5000 receiver, but they were 15 yr old Fisher's? Not good speakers. So I looked and found the Polk website, and read about them. I knew I had to have them. I hooked them up as soon as they arrived, and i knew I needed bi-pole speakers. because i have a very small room. (16x14). I mounted them on the wall, that was very easy, and bought some high quality sheilded speaker wire, no not moster cable... some knockoff thats like half the price. First movie I watched was the Matrix of course. I can't say enough how clean, accurate, and fantasic they sound. Anyone looking for a nice pair of surrounds without breaking the bank, should look no further. These FX/300i's are beautiful to look at and even better to listen to. Sorry this was so long.

none, i've never owned a pair of surrounds before!
