Price Paid:  $95.00 from Estate Sale

Summary:
Got lucky and found out that an Estate Sale was having them for sale and on the third and last day of the sale they were dropping prices by 50%; started at $195. I knew the reputation so I got in the door when the sale started an had bought them within 60 seconds for under $100. I put them side by side next to my Bose 201s (ok, not a fair fight) and there is definitely a difference. The highs convey nicely and there's enough bass coming out so that's not boxy; a little like the Bose. The angled sides of the speaker really project the sound all over the room. I have to still plug it into my Home Theater but I'm anticipating to be blown away. I agree with the others...if you can find them, grab them. They'll make a great addition to your sound system. I already have the 2.1's and 5.1's for my computers.

Strengths:
Crisp sound, good bass, solid feel, not your typical boxy look

Weaknesses:
None yet.

Similar Products Used:
Bose 201s, Bose Acoustimass III, Klipsch 2.1 and 5.1 computer system speakers, Klipsh KSB 1.1's.

Price Paid:  $500.00 from Flanners Audio & Video

Summary:
I'm a long time Klipsch fan and was lucky enough to find a brand new pair of theses beauties secluded on the back of a dusty shelf at an out of the way audio shop! I've always wanted a pair of these but initially went with the KSF-S5's due to availability and pricing. The best way I can describe these speakers is...PURE SURROUND ENJOYMENT! I thought the KSF-S5's were great, and they are! But as soon as I heard theses speakers I knew then that it was time to retire the my faithful S5's, at least until I upgrade to EX&ES :-) Anyway, the sound energy produced by these speaks is amazing to say the least. The combination of high efficiency and wide dispersion really push this speaker over the top! The days of using small weak little surrounds is over, and if your still using them...it's time for a change. We need impact and believability in our surround channels, if there's an explosion behind us it should sound like an explosion right?! And with all the advances in Home Theater over the years the surround channel has finally become one of the key ingredients to having a great HT system. We owe it to ourselves to experience movie soundtracks the way it was always meant to be, and these speakers help make that vision a reality. From the moment these speaks were assimilated into my system, I thought...WOW.....now that's how I always imagined a bullet whizzing past my head would sound!. The clarity....the imaging...the impact of the bass notes.....it's all there now. Only after I installed these speaks I figured out what was missing from my system this whole time, these speakers. One of the best aspects of these speaks is that they finally put the whole Dipole - Tripole- Direct Radiating - surround debate to rest! ALL OF THOSE QUALITIES in one package! They sit on that fine line right in the middle of where all these surround implementation's merge together. It's hard to describe but when you want direct radiating it's there, when you want diffuse it's there! Klipsch really made a break through with this wide dispersion layout of their surrounds and I love them for that. I know it may be hard to audition these speakers now due to their discontinuation, but please take my word for it. If your already a klipsch devotee then you have nothing to worry about, and if your not...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR ! Find a list of all authorized dealers from the klipsch web site and start making calls...that's the way I found em and probably the only avenue left. There's always eBay but get ready to spend $700+ for a used pair. Even then it would be worth it. They are pretty heavy so you'll need a strong mount. If you have any questions please feel free to mail me, or if your in the Madison, WI area, I'd be happy to let you check em out. Bottom line is the KSP-S6 is one of the great surround speakers of our time, you must find some! It's ashamed that more people don't know about klipsch because they make great speakers. All those myths about Horns sounding harsh will be dispelled once you hear these speakers, in all actuality they aren't even "True" horns at all, more like a hybrid between a horn and a soft dome. But it makes you wonder..if they use horns at the THX certified cinema...there must be some reason, right :-)

Strengths:
Extremely efficient, Wide dispersion area, Crystal clear highs and surprisingly strong bass for a surround!

Weaknesses:
Not a damn thing :-)

Review 3 of 4

Summary:
I will say, that if you are in the market for some truly theater quality sound at home, these speakers are by far the best I have heard. Most surround speakers are "small" sounding, and subtle. I never liked that. These Klipsch S6's have a powerful presence, and their sound stage is seamless. They make you feel like you are in the movie. Not watching one, with speakers all around you. I run them with a 12" klipsch sub for extra kick, but believe me, you dont need to! They kick on their own!

Strengths:
Awesome surround. VERY FLEXIBLE placement options.

Weaknesses:
Haven't found any yet...

Review 4 of 4

Summary:
After much research and auditions (in store only), I decided on Klipsch over Boston Accoustics. The sound seemed brighter, louder, & effortless to produce. I have the KSP-400 towers, C6 Center, & S6 rear speakers. They are all phenomenal. I am greatly impressed with the sound for both music & home theater surround sound. The S6 provide better surround sound than I have heard before in a home setup. I love movies & TV, and now find myself choosing more movies, etc. for the sound they offer. These truly give the feeling of a theater in your home. Others that have listened to my setup have commented on the excellent surround feeling and quality provided by the S6 speakers. I definitely recommend them if you are considering it. Uncles Stereo offers great prices on these.
