Klipsch RS-35 Surround Speakers

Klipsch RS-35 Surround Speakers

DESCRIPTION

Conventional surround speakers must be mounted following specific location requirements, making their placement in homes troublesome. The new RS-35 surround speaker features Klipsch’s Wide Dispersion Surround Technology™ (WDST) and reproduces ambient and precise localized sounds with unlimited placement flexibility. The RS-35 is a refined version of the RS-3 II, one of the best-selling surrounds in the United States, and delivers improved bass performance and employs a more compact-sized horn for a reduction in cabinet width.

The RS-35 delivers crystal-clear sonic detail through the careful placement of two Tractrix® Horn loaded titanium-dome tweeters and one 6.5-inch Cerametallic™ woofer. By aligning the two horns at 90 degrees with respect to each other, along with the front-firing woofer, the RS-35 smoothly covers a 180-degree horizontal arc, allowing maximum placement flexibility. This unique Wide Dispersion Technology™ brings Reference Series performance to listening areas with less-than-ideal configurations.

Strength:

Wide dispersion; easy placement, good quality, great price.

Weakness:

Limited in bass extension due to size but probably not necessary for surround sound duties...

Purchased from www.acousticsounddesign.com Excellent product for the price. Wide dispersion creates an immersive soundfield which is great for movies. Choice of white color make the music (and the speakers) blend well into the decor. Highly recommended product and vendor!

Customer Service

Strength:

Great sound, price, size, looks, ease of placement (wall or ceiling).

I replaced my Radio Shack RCA 40-5006 with these RS-35's and got a great deal from www.acousticsounddesign.com. I know the speakers I replaced were older but they were good at the time I set up HT, a good 7 yrs ago. I bought the RC-35 to go with my RF-5 and RC-3II and I'm very happy with them. Great size for my room and easily hung from my ceiling. My HT set up is used mostly for movies and these speakers do very well covering the rear channels. In addition to my RCA rear speakers I replaced, I had a single rear center channel speaker between them but found I didn't need to keep it with the RS-35's. They fill the rear very nicely with sound. A nice improvement to the look of my room with one less speaker hanging from my ceiling. I have noticed when playing music, they are much brighter than the set up I had before, a definite plus.

Customer Service

Strength:

Sensitivity. Klipsch speakers will give you very good output (high volume) using very little power. Base repsonse is excellent as well as the highs. $389/pr at www.acousticsounddesign.com!

Weakness:

Midrange. Klipsch speakers seem to have a less than desired midrange frequency response. However, if you are an advocate of (and know how to properly use) an equalizer, this can be easily compensated for

I purchased a pair of RS-35 surround speakers on e-Bay at a store called www.acousticsounddesign.com. I've tested several surround speaker designs at various locations and found these speaker to be the best speaker for my room size. In my opinion, Klipsch speakers are the best speaker for the working-man. These speakers were purchased in May 05, and without a doubt, this was the best deal that I could find at $389/pr.

Strength:

size, ease of mounting, terrific matching with RF-5 front speakers. the design is excellent i love the 2 horns firing at 45 degree angles from the woofer.

Weakness:

price, all reference speakers are somewhat overpriced. having bought these from www.brandnamez.com I saved a lot of money over a local dealer, however that comes at a price. you cant get Klipsch's 5 year warranty, and what they will not tell you until after a purchase is that if you cancel you will have to pay a 15 % restocking fee. brandnamez will service your speakers if you have a problem but do you really want a bulk wholesaler to service your speakers? BE VERY WARY WHEN MAKING SPEAKER PURCHASES ONLINE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING AND TELL THEM WHEN YOU ORDER IF YOU DONT HAVE THEM IN STOCK TO CANCEL THE ORDER IMEDIATLY. THEN THEY HAVE NO RECOURSE.

I bought these surround speakers to augment my RF-5 front speakers. they look nice mounted on my walls. they match well acoustically with the main speakers. this newest version from Klipsch is very good, however they say improved bass response? if you look at the stats compared to the RS-3 2 series they dont go anywhere as low. they have improved the sound pressure level by 1 db over the RS-3. I truly believe this is a great speaker.

Strength:

Great sound, reasonable weight, magnetically attached grilles

Weakness:

The mounting system is great if you want to hang it on a wall, which I did for the rear surrounds, but the side surrounds had to be attached to regular speaker mounts. The brass insert for that purpose was too close to the top to be used with the mounts I looked at.

I recently bought the complete Reference 35 series with a RW-10 sub. I was very happy with the performance of these little guys. Like the whole R 35 line the sound is crisp and clear, with well defined tight base (although not much in the low end, but what do you expect for a surround). They are well built, and sound great. What else can I say.
