Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $99.00 from Yamaha Shop Online

Summary:
A bit boomy at hight levels, but not too bad - you can always adjust the porportional volume and cutoff controls. Not a sub really, it is more for bass augmentation I'd reccomend it for those of you who are not out after all out thump, on a budget, and use smaller speakers. Like me - living in a 12' by 12' cell called a dorm

Strengths:
Plenty of bass and power (for me) Small size adjustable flexibility

Weaknesses:
not for tons of bass attract putz roommates and dormie neighbors

Similar Products Used:
None

Review 2 of 3

Summary:
I've had this sub for several weeks now and could not be happier. I can't imagine a more expensive sub will outperform this for a moderate home theater system. Before buying, I listened to everything from CV, JBL, and Eosone. Quite simply, this speaker sounded just as good. My guess is that some may prefer more power, but it has been more than adequate for my system.
I watching movies in Dolby Digital and Pro Logic, it was been outstanding. When there is an earthquake, my living room shakes from this sub.

It takes a little playing around with the cutoff to get it to sound right with any given system (I adjusted it in the store, then at home), but now that I have it set, I haven't had to change it at all. This appears to be a good value at under $200. Compared with twice that for subs that I could not judge to sound better.

Review 3 of 3

Summary:
This 50 watt powered subwoofer is indeed quite powerful (for it's price and size). It has a variable frequency switch from 50 to 150, and is easy to hide. The only drawback of course is if you're really into pounding out the bass; you will continually have to adjust the volume level on the subwoofer to accomodate the increase in volume form you receiver. Other than that, one really can't complain.
