Summary:
When upgrading my HT system to dolby digital about 3 years ago, the last piece of the puzzle was the sub. After usin JBL for years, and thinking I was happy with it, I strolled into the WIZ "going out of business" rummage sale. Amidst the heaps of audio reminence , the aisle parted and I saw one single subwoofer sitting on the corner. Now I am not a big rap listener and was looking for clear deep bass. After making friends with the one salsman on duty, and greasing the wheels a bit, I walked out of the store with this amazing piece for an UNBELIEVABE $150!!!!! Figuring I would just sell it for a profit. Until I hooked it up. This 8" driver (with 10" passive) put out deeper clearer bass then my 10" JBL which I paid 8 times the price for. Combined with my Cerwin Vega towers, I get constant complaints from the neigbors that I am rattling the entire building. If you are serious about your HT system, do not look any further than velodyne for your sub woofer. Anything less is just a waiste of money. A++++++++++++++++++++

Strengths:
Room shaking, percision bass. Unit is VERY small and can be hidden and moved EASILY

Weaknesses:
People think its wimpy when they look at it (BIG MISTAKE!!!)

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
The 907 is a small sub, an 8 inch driver and 10 inch passive radiator, and 80 watt amp, but the bass is about as solid and robust as any 10 incher mid-priced model out there. Even with the Godzilla DVD--a nightmare for most subs--it whacked out enough energy with its active and passive drivers to actually put crackes in the corners of my apartment, and rattle pictures of the shelves. I compared it to larger models from JBL, Infinity and Cerwin-vega, and they all came up way short in terms of sound quality and wow factor. It max's out at around 35hz, which is not very low by sub standards, but for sure it finds the right level of power and grace to enhance both music and DVD's. It's a Velodyne--nuff said. Now how about the HGS-10 vs the Sunfire True Sub-woofer...

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
