Price Paid:  $0.00 from svsubwoofers.com

Summary:
I purchased the SVS 20-39 CS+ after the amplifier on my Infinity HPS 1000 failed. Currently, I am using one channel of a Rotel 980BX to power it (120 watts at 8 ohms). In testing performance of the SVS with test tones from Avia using my Radio Shack sound level meter, I found the SVS played cleaner, lower and louder than the Infinity in previous tests in the same location. This is despite the fact the Infinity has a 1000 watt amplifier, a 15" sub and two large passive radiators. I am able to exceed 105 db at 25hz in a large room (25X15X8 with two openings) with plenty of headroom from a 160 watt amp.

Strengths:
Extends to 20 hz with ease. Plays low and loud, but is musical and clean. Surprisingly efficient. Exceptional customer service both before and after sale.

Weaknesses:
Appearance may not win ready acceptance from spouse.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
