Price Paid:
$275.00
from SEVENOAKS Summary: I WROTE A VERY WEAK REVIEW ON THIS PRODUCT A WHILE AGO. BUT THE PROBLEM WAS SETTING THE SUB UP. THE SOLUTION WAS SIMPLE. I SET THE SPEAKER LEVELS TO SMALL ON THE MAIN, CENTRE, AND REAR LEFT AND RIGHT. AND I ALSO SET THE AMP TO DEDICATE ALL LOW FREQUENCIES TO THE SUB ALONE AN ---WALAAA! THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. THE SUB EVENTUALLY CAME ALIVE. IT DID NOT PRODUCE ANY MORE BOOM BUT IT PRODUCED A FAR LOWER FREQUENCY WHICH RATTLED AND SHOOK EVERY THING AROUND IT. THIS SUB IS THE MOST TECHNICALLY ADVANCED 50WATT RMS SUB IN ITS CLASS AND NOTHING BEATS IT IN THE 50WATT SECTOR. ITS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE. Strengths: BEST 50WATT SUB EVER. ITS EVEN GOES LOWER THAN YAMAHAS ALMIGHTY YSTW800 Weaknesses: ON FILMS SUCH AS JURRASSIC PARK III IT LACKS POWER AT HIGHER VOLUMES Similar Products Used: YST800 YAMAHA, DEFINITIVE TECH PROSUB 80 REL STORM III.

from Botman multimedia Summary: I have this sub now for 3 weeks and have compared it whit 3 other subs.
A klips hsw 10, a sony and jbl,
and i say the rel rules.
It''s diffecult to break in, but what sub ins''t.
It blends in whit my other speakers,
Sony ss-la500ed and bose 901 like it isn''t there.
The bose purdused a lot of base but not as deep as the rell.
My comment is, buy this sub for this there is nothing else around Strengths: Power to blend in likes there''s nothing there, but when you disconnct it you misit like rel (hell) Weaknesses: Design Similar Products Used: JBL, Sony, Klipsh

Review 3 of 11 Summary: I have the Q50 in my system for 6 months now, and it has finally found a home there. It was a little dificult at first to get the settings right. I pair the Q50 with tannoy MX3 in a fairly small room, so I got a hard time to filter out the boom. After a few months, I placed it in the other corner, at the right front of the room. It now sits on it's spikes, a granite plinth about 4cm thick, and the plinth sits on 8 screws that go into the floor, 10cm deep. Wall distance is 15 cm from the front wall, 50cm from the side. The crossover is set very high, but the volume very low. The button don't have markings, just clicks. The volume is up 7 clicks, the roll-off is 5 clicks from its max. So yes, I let it sing pretty high, but it works best this way, believe me, have I tried. It is extremely important to keep it from wobling, so take the time to set it up rigidly. Still so happy with my REL, good job Richard !

AMAZING FOR JUST 50 WATTS...
I HAD ONE PROBLEM...I HAD TO REPLACE MINE COS THE WOOFER WAS LOOSE AFTER 12 MONTHS....BASICALLY IT WASNT A SEALED WOOFER ANYMORE... THE GLUE CAME OFF...LOTS OF GARBLING...AFTER A HEFTY ARGUMENT I GOT A REPLACEMENT AT AN ADD. COST OF $170!!!!!
I WONT BLAME IT ON BUILD QUALITY...ITS BCOS OF THE SEARING HEAT HERE...
AND YES...CONSTANT "TWEAKING" OF THE FREQUENCY ADJUST KNOB TO COMPLIMENT THE SPEAKERS IS A HEADACHE...BUT ONE THE SETTING IS RIGHT...ITS LIKE ROMEO AND JULIET...
ITS AN IDEAL THING TO PLACE THE WOOFER SO THAT THE BASS "BOUNCES" OFF THE WALL AT AN ANGLE...THAT WAY IT SPREADS ACROSS A BETTER AREA....JUST INCLINE IT TO THE WALL AT AN ANGLE OF 60 DEGREES... Strengths: BASS...BASS...AND MORE BASS...LOW POWER CONSUMPTION (JUST 50 WATTS) Weaknesses: JUST 50 WATTS!!!!...ADHESIVE JOINING THE CONE AND THE WOOFER... WEIGHT...SPIKES(OUCH)!!!
