Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Krazy Kileys Regina

Summary:
Wish I had a second one to pair it up with/// I am looking to upgrade and start with all new paradigm products. I am pleased with the construction and Sound. (Nice!) Would like the cherry ash cabinet. I recommend the Paradigms Subs. Also note that the PS-1000 won some awards, nice show!.

PS-800 great for first time buyers and Home theaters

Price not accurate I purchased it in a Deal.

Next Stop PS-1200

Strengths:
All around great Sub. I made a good purchase, Good price.

Weaknesses:
No complaints

Similar Products Used:
PS 1000, & Some Cheap Tech Product.

Review 2 of 5

Summary:
Another great sub from Paradigm! This company continues to stun the audio world with a great lineup of speakers that blow your senses, but not your wallet. I've used this sub in my audio listening room where it performed flawlessly. I've since moved it into my newly finished home theatre room where it also does quite well, though this room is considerable larger. Tight, deep controlled bass is what this sub delivers and handles any type of music well - from classical chamber to jazz, new age instrumental to reggae and soca. Great value that just cannot be beat at twice it's price.

Review 3 of 5

Summary:
A good metal dome, if you like metal. The midrange is articulate, but lacking in dispersion. The woofers are solid, but the port is misplaced. All together though a solid buy. Requires speaker stands.

Review 4 of 5

Summary:
I recently purchased the PS-800 in conjuction with the Paradigm Mini-Monitors. I was looking for a system that was reasonably priced and could function in both a home theater set-up as well as stand alone audio. I mistakely purchased the Bose Acoustimass 5 System and was terribly disappointed at the performance for the price (thanks to all of you who wrote the Bose Reviews on this site, to help re-inforce what my ears were already telling me). I took the Bose back and got the Paradigms, what a difference. The Mini's provide a very detailed (although some what cool) mid and upper range. The sound is at first, somewhat distant and takes a little time to get used to the distinct separation. However , after this initial period, I was floored by the clarity of these speakers, especially at the price. Used in conjunction with the powered PS-800, the upper bass and mid-range of these speakers is freed and becomes even more clear and detailed. The PS-800 provides a very strong bass down to all but the lowest levels. I' ve found that it does take some time to get the placement of the speakers correct as well as too set the controls for the sub woofer. However, once set, I would find it hard to believe that you could find a better speaker for less than twice the price.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
