Summary:
I love music and movies. This subwoofer has been a part of my home system for ..... 14 YEARS !!.... and it is still going strong. I have upgraded every other piece twice in 14 years but have kept this piece. It is a beast and still provide teeth shattering base as if new. Currently running Klipsch RS series 7.1 system with a Yamaha RX-2400 Receiver. Just added a new Plasma and Blu-Ray and this thing just keeps kicking doing an absolutely wonderful job with very true sound both for movies and a very respectable job with my more flaw reveaping music CD's.

Review 2 of 117

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I purchased an older NHT setup from a guy on craigslist. VT-1.4 front, superone XU surrounds with a VS-2A center channel. He threw in a Paradigm PS-1000 subwoofer with the package. I will only be using this setup for movies....no music. For the price of $1000 for the package, I am pleased with the subwoofer, but it tends to be a bit boomy and you have to be careful about where you position the subwoofer. In my application, it need to go in the corner, and that isn't ideal. Overall it is great for movies and ok for music.

I just purchased a Velodyne Minivee 10 subwoofer online last night for $375 (includes shipping) and I also found a SVS 20-39 PC Plus sub that I can probably get for $475. Any thoughts on whether I should keep the PS1000 or the Velodyne Minivee 10 or buy the SVS 20-39 PC Plus????

Please help with any advise you guys have!!!!! Thanks in advance.

Strengths:
Deep low accurate bass. Not boomy.

None that I can think of.

Review 5 of 117

Price Paid:  $550.00 from Hawkeye Audio

Summary:
I have had the PS1000 for over ten years, and it has never disappointed me. I have never given the sub more than it can handle. I connect it to my amp with a Paradigm crossover hooked into my speaker B. That way, the sub is connected via RCA. I've had this thing through college and various apartments, and I'll put it up against anything up to five times its price (save Paradigm products). It has been moved, abused, and used as an end table by my wife, and it still pumps bass as good as ever. I absolutely recommend this product.

Strengths:
Incredible loud, strkining bass without getting boomy and mushy. Many connection options allow flexibility with systems.

Weaknesses:
It is best against a wall and not in the corner or in open space. It tends to get boomy in the corner. It is quite large and heavy.

Similar Products Used:
Paradigm Mini Monitors, Arcam Alpha 7R int. amp, Marantz CD 67 SE CD Player, Paradigm Subwoofer crossover
