Review 2 of 115

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Great Sounds

Summary:
One of the best subs I've heard at this price range. Exellent for home theater in a mid sized room. Really good for music too. Don't worry, If you buy this sub you won't be disappointed .

Strengths:
Deep low accurate bass. Not boomy.

Weaknesses:
None that I can think of.

Similar Products Used:

Mk- subs

Review 3 of 115

Price Paid:  $550.00 from Hawkeye Audio

Summary:
I have had the PS1000 for over ten years, and it has never disappointed me. I have never given the sub more than it can handle. I connect it to my amp with a Paradigm crossover hooked into my speaker B. That way, the sub is connected via RCA. I've had this thing through college and various apartments, and I'll put it up against anything up to five times its price (save Paradigm products). It has been moved, abused, and used as an end table by my wife, and it still pumps bass as good as ever. I absolutely recommend this product.

Strengths:
Incredible loud, strkining bass without getting boomy and mushy. Many connection options allow flexibility with systems.

Weaknesses:
It is best against a wall and not in the corner or in open space. It tends to get boomy in the corner. It is quite large and heavy.

Similar Products Used:
Paradigm Mini Monitors, Arcam Alpha 7R int. amp, Marantz CD 67 SE CD Player, Paradigm Subwoofer crossover

Review 4 of 115

Price Paid:  $200.00 from ebay

Summary:
I bought this sub on Ebay for my second system, and I like it a lot. It is paired with a pair of Paradigm Monitor 3seMk3's crossed over at 80 hz on the high pass at my preamp and about 90hz on the sub. Playing music it is quick and accurate, not sloppy as some of the other reviewers have found. It could be electronic source, music or set-up but I think this is a nice sounding sub at a reasonable price new or used. With time spent on set up, it disappears well. Listening to all types of music, it sounds good, but I can't vouch for home theater. I might move it to my theater system, an post another review, but I don't think it would be too impressive compaired to a pair of SVS's. But in all fairness, this sub does a lot for it's size.

Strengths:
Fast and accurate for music. Blends seamlessly with my Paradigm Monitor 3se's.

Weaknesses:
Box is a bit large. non detatchable power cord is my biggest complaint. It can't cost two dollars more to add a IEC plug and cable.

Similar Products Used:
SVS cylinders, HSU research boxes, a couple of homemade subs, and a bunch of car audio subs.

Review 5 of 115

Price Paid:  $220.00

Summary:
bought the PS 1000 in the used market. I replaced the internal speaker cable with neotech copper to tightened the bass further...hook it up to my Yammy Amp and it blew me away. The pots in my kitchen was shaking...watching my dvd collection all over again, i've been missing lots of low frequency stuff...Lyle Poulin, what was the model of the MTX replacement driver that you bought, might want to purchase it to try out if the price is right over in singapore...thx

Strengths:
powerful low end bass notes.

Weaknesses:
need to move around to get the correct placing...otherwise none for that price.

Boston PV 600 Def Tech Pro 100
