Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $140.00 from Home Theater Direct

Summary:
Nice sub in the
It will NOT shake the pictures off the wall, and I can't say I would really choose it for home theater use (just doesn 'impact' like some others I've heard).

*However*
If you have a music-only system, esp using 2 higher-end bookshelf speakers, this sub is fast and will really fill out the low end, without being boomy.

Overall, GREAT value in its pricepoint. Awesome for a small 3 piece setup, but just wont take the cake for most listeners in home theater.

Strengths:
Very tight and fast, goes fairly low.

Weaknesses:
Lacking power

Similar Products Used:
In the pricepoint - Polk 8, 10 / DCM / Ar / JBL

Review 2 of 2

Summary:
This is the baby brother of the AS-2. It has less power, a smaller case, and costs less. The sound is pretty much the same as the AS-2,... you can really FEEL the throb with either beat-box. (I'm told that two of them, one for right and one for left, really rocks the house!) My setup also includes a pair of Mission 734's. The combination is probably too heavy on the bass, but it still sounds pretty good.
The only concern with this unit, and other Mission subs, is the "AUTO" switch setting. This setting supposedly detects when there is an audio signal and turns the unit on and off automatically. When playing music at low volumes, the unit switches itself on and off. The clicks from the relays can get really annoying.

Besides this minor problem, the unit performs quite well. If you can pick it up for $150 (used) like I did, go for it!
