Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $199.00 from Vann's.com

Summary:
This is a great little sub! It is perfect for those with small-medium sized rooms or apartment dwellers. It produces plenty of good, tight, clean bass and is equally good for both music and movies. It is a very good looking and well built sub. The build and sound quality is MUCH higher than a comparable sub from Yamaha,Sony,JBL,etc. Do not be scared off by the fact that it only has an 8" driver. It goes down to 27Hz and gets the job done just fine. I have it paired with a Harman Kardon AVR 435 receiver,Polk Rti6 mains,CSi3 center,Rti4 surrounds, and a Sony DVP-NS3100ES DVD/SACD player and it is a match made in heaven. If your room is on the smaller side it would be a waste of money to buy a larger, more expensive sub that you wouldn't be using to anywhere near its' full potential. This sub comes with my highest recommendations and I am not easy to please when it comes to audio equipment!

Strengths:
Deep,tight,clean,musical bass.
Small size makes it easy to place.
Very High Build Quality.
Attractive Looking.
Value For The Dollar.

Weaknesses:
Absolutely none provided you don't ask it to do more that it is capable of, like using it in a very large room.

Similar Products Used:
Definitive Technology, Klipsch,JBL.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $249.00 from Tweeter

Summary:
Got this sud about four months ago and havn't looked back since.I'm using in conjunction with my Denon dm33s mini system. It produces clean vibrations with warm tones and zero distortion. It's built by a canadian manufacture who is recently comming to the for front. One convient feature is that it will shut down automatically when there is no signal is detected. Also with all the different settings and connections it enables it to be compatable with any system your using it with.I had the oportunity to compare it to a simulor sized Polk sub and the Mirage was the clear choice.Just a reminder,it needs 50 hours of break in so don't crank it up all the way at first. However,I would not crank it all the way up as it could shake the foundation of your dwelling.Personally I never have to crank it up all the way meaning it's capable of filling a large room with room to spare. If it means anything I got the AQ sub 1 cable to go with it. At it's price point there is not another sub that comes close to it.

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
