Review 1 of 26

Price Paid:  $699230.00 from Magnolia Hi Fi @ Paw

Summary:
I purchased 1 V-125 about 2 years ago with the intention of buying a second later. This subs strengths are music and theater, which can not be said for many subs of higher price. Most will do great until it comes to music. This is where the V-125 is different. Tight, clean, and nothing you do not recognize, such as boomy bass that is not relavent to the track at hand. I LOVE these things. I paid 699 US for my first one and thought I would by a second when I could afford it. I lucked out and found a second one used for 230 US ! I have auditioned too many to list. But, for the money, for music and theater, this is the one.

Strengths:
All

Weaknesses:
None

Similar Products Used:
Too many to list.

Review 2 of 26

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I use the V125 with a pair of Maggie MMGs. The combination is a very cost effective and extremely musical pair. I believe this sub to be a sleeper and underrated. Give one a listen, you won''t be disappointed.

Strengths:
Cost. Sound. Quality of construction.

Review 3 of 26

Summary:
To round out my system I purchased this sub.

Everyhing seem's clearer with it connected.
The sub will not make you sit up and go " WOW " or draw attention to itself, but when taken out of the system, you will wonder what is missing.

It does it's job wonderfully of adding depth to the bass and a clarity to the overall sound.

If you want the " WOW " factor then look else were for something that exagerate's the bass and in the end is not true to the original recording or soundtrack.

Strengths:
sound quality, available inputs

Weaknesses:
none so far

Similar Products Used:
NAD, Mission, PSB

Review 4 of 26

Summary:
I've owned this sub for about 5 years. I use it exclusively for music in combination with a pair of NHT SuperZeros. This setup is a delightful combination that I've been completely happy with. I also auditioned (in home) a big Paradigm sub that turned out to be not so good for music, and a sub from Radio Shack, which was surprisingly plausible (all along with numerous in-store auditions). I like the M&K for its lack of boominess and neutral sound. It doesn't give a "Woo hoo! Now that's BASS!" effect, at least the way I use it, just a robust, musical bottom end.

Strengths:
Terrific sub for music; clean, high-quality styling; high-pass speaker-level out

Weaknesses:
Not an Earth shaker

Similar Products Used:
Paradigm 15"

Review 5 of 26

Summary:
I researched for 3 months before updating my old stereo to a home theatre system. This site formed a large part of that research. I have had this sub less than 1 week. I doubt it is even run in yet.

It took a little while to set it up but if you put in the time and effort you get some outstanding results. The B&W is probably a reasonable competitor however the sales staff where I auditioned it were not very interested in selling me one (at least they did not appear to be).

I settled on the M&K as I was buying the rest of the system from the same place. I will be using this more for music than movies so it was important that it be able to keep up. It is very clear, goes low, and can give a decent kick. I am running it at just on half volume so it has plenty in reserve.

I have not given it the full treatment with movies but I am sure it will be up to the task.

There are cheaper subs out there. I also know you can pay a lot more for units that can't match the M&K. The next step up in performance would have cost me another US $500 which was definitely out of my budget.

This sub does everything I need it to do. I have a largish room (approx 16 x 26 ft) and it fills this with low, clean bass without giving away the position of the unit.

I have given this sub 4 stars because there are better subs out there. They just cost more than I was prepared to pay.

Strengths:
All Rounder

Similar Products Used:
Listened to B&W ASW1000, Subsonic and Yamaha
