Review NaN of , from Fresno, CA USA

Price Paid:  $1200.00 from Sound Design

Summary:
I purchased 3 subs in 3 weeks and took them all back. None could withstand my demands. I ran across the 5000 used and it was 200$ more than any of the new ones I tried. The sales guy said it was over 1/2 the cost on new.
I couldn't be happier. I have had it for over 5 years now. Never an ounce of problem. It was and still is the best money I have spent in my theater system. Expensive but knowing what I do now about it I would have paid full price for it and still be as happy

Strengths:
Will take everything and anything you throw at it without distortion.

Weaknesses:
Moving it!

Review NaN of , from San Rafael, CA USA

Price Paid:  $2100.00 from eBay

Summary:
I use this sub for the LFE channel in my home theater setup. It takes everything I throw at it. If you have ever seen the movie the Haunting, it has agressive bass down to 18Hz. This sub played it all, very loudly and with detail. It is not a mushy sub - it has enormus presence and detail.

It is also very flexible in that you can use the crossover on your av-controller or use its own crossovers. You get two types of crossovers one that is fixed, the other you can dial in. You can also use the av-controller to control the volume or manually control it from the sub.

I really like this sub and it gives me a lot of enjoyment when watching movies.

Strengths:
Deep bass, fast, versital configuration.

Weaknesses:
None I can think of.

Review NaN of , from San Clemente, Calif

Price Paid:  $2400.00 from home theater installer

Summary:
This is a great sub.... without compromise. You will not be unhappy IF you can afford it effortlessly (otherwise forget it because it is a lot of money and SVS or many other makers will make you happy at less than half the price.... but... if you can afford it... then it is great.... both with music and hit you in the stomach explosions). I love mine.

NO REGRETS at all.... really top notch.

Strengths:
this is a very good subwoofer.

Weaknesses:
price (which you forget once you live with it)...at any price I don't think you will do better

Similar Products Used:
I make music for a living...so, lots

Review NaN of , from Jenison, Michigan, USA

Summary:
I am both a professional and personal user of M&K products, not a retailer. For anyone that does not already know this, M&K is the leading professional audio speaker manufacturer. Everyone from Dolby&DTS, to Trevor Rabin(YES), George Lucas, THX, a host of digital editors & DVD authoring companies, and now even the mastering man himself on the east coast Bob Ludwig use MK. If you check out your liner notes on pretty much a who's who of music, you will find Gateway Mastering and Bob Ludwig(on a side note, his personal best master is Tori Amos, Boys for Pele. Buy it now if you do not own it. He has installed two of these subs in his newer DVD mastering suite.

If you want deep truly tactile bass, then this is definitely a sub you need to look into. It is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but the odds are very good that any movie you may be watching had its LFE signal mixed on this sub. Certainly not a sub for apartment dwellers, unless you plan on being evicted quite quickly, as your neighbors will feel about as much bass as you will. It does have a lower wife acceptance factor than say a sunfire sub, but still its worth it. There are subs that may be a touch more musical, and certainly subs that get a little deeper(REL), but this is the standard for the motion picture industry, need I say more?? Every single second of audio for Star Wars The Phantom Menace was mixed using this product, as well as the new Star Wars film currently in Production.

Strengths:
This is the industry standard for the Motion Picture/Professional Multi-Channel Audio Industry

Weaknesses:
none

M&K MX-200 (still have, quite nice)
