Review 1 of 9

Price Paid:  $80.00 from Pawn shop

Summary:
The klh subwoofer is ok for beginners. I want a sub that is gonna make you crap your pants when it kicks in. This sub kicks in when it is suppose to, but its just not enough for me. I want major power. 80 watts aint enough...

Strengths:
It does the job for a rookie...or if you live in a apartment.

Weaknesses:
It aint got enough balls for me...

Review 4 of 9

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Best Buy

Summary:
It took me several days to get my home theatre set up and configured (sound wise), and the subwoofer was the most frustrating. When watching DVD, the "gain" on the sub has to be turned up considerably to get the "auto on" feature to kick in, but by then the bass is too 'boomy'. So I just turn the sub to always "ON" instead of auto to get the levels where I want without it cutting 'in and out'. Once I did that I was able to get everything sounding pretty good. I used the "Terminator 2 Ultimate DVD Edition" to help me 'balance' the sound. It's a good sub for a budget system and overall I'm pleased, but with a minimal 'thumbs up'.

Strengths:
Decent bass for a small home theatre set-up

Weaknesses:
Auto "on" feature sensitivity finicky - audible "hum" from built in amp when turned on

Similar Products Used:
first sub-woofer

Review 5 of 9

Summary:
I was putting together a system on a budget and this sub fit the bill. Granted, you won't get the power of more expensive subs (this one has an 80 watt amp), but with the right placement in the room this sub will shake the floor. I located it in a corner next to my couch. It made a big difference compared to when it was in the center of the wall.

You can't find a sub that sounds as good as this one for the price ($100 from 800.com.)

Strengths:
Price, Phase switch, Volume control, Crossover frequency control

Weaknesses:
total power

none
