Summary:
This is a wonderful subwoofer. For both music and movies it truly brings out the bass with no distortion. There truly is musicality present even within bass and few subwoofers let you truly hear it. This is one of them. This sub blends very easily with the rest of my system and there is no distortion.

Reviewers have indicated that by directing the bass to this sub (usually by setting the receiver to small for your speakers) this sub in a lot of ways frees the upper bass, mids and highs from your speaker to shine. I was skeptical but I have found this to be true. It also enhances your soundstage. Try listening to Nana Mouskouri and her vocals are lifted above the rest of the instruments. I have also listened to Aja by Steely Dan and Train Song from Holly Cole where the bass is amazing also emphasizing how much dynamic range a decent system will exhibit with the addition of this sub.

In terms of video, try watching The Dark Knight in Blue Ray with this sub in your system and you will be blown away. Truly reference quality.

This is by far the best addition that I have made to my system. If you are thinking of building a system for the long term this is the sub I would get.

Strengths:
Strength and Musicality of Bass
Build Quality
Easily integrates with the rest of your system
Automatic equalization works to eliminate major source of room distortion
Powerful Tight Bass
4 inch woofer excursion
2500 watts (for when the music dictates it)
Piano Black finish
Not that big given specs

Weaknesses:
Price
Heavy (130 pounds)

Velodyne FSX-12

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
This is a very powerful musical subwoofer. It can handle all of the special effects in movies. If you are looking for a long term investment in a sub, this is it.
After purchasing one of these f-113s and hearing it for awhile, I went back and bought a second one. They work as Master-Slave. The room optimazation program does remove the worse boom in the room from the sub.

If you want one let me know at rrinaldi1111@hotmail.com. My authorized dealer really has competitive pricing for the JL Audio products.

Strengths:
Power - 2,500 rms watts per sub.
Excursion - up to four inches
Room Optimazation - actually helps the sound improve
Weight - 130 pounds
Appearance - Beautiful glossy piano black
Price - My dealer gave me a real low price
Size - really small for what you get

Weaknesses:
Price - even with a large discount this sub isn't cheap
Weight - it is really hard to move this sub around the room

Velodyne CT-120 subwoofer

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
