Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $190.00 from CompUSA

Summary:
I purchased this sub for my secondary audio/video system. I have an SVSubwoofer (CS+ 1646) in my primary system with an external 500 watt amplifier. I enjoy serious bass and wanted something for my secondary system. I was considering another SV Subwoofer but the price was a litte more than I wanted to spend at this time. When I ran across this sub (on close out due to CompUSA being merged with Good Guys), I jumped on it. The sound is very articulate. While it won't shake the sofa, it does provide very decent bass. In fact, my wife says she like the bass from this sub more than my SV. I can't agree, but I have been very impressed with the output of this sub. I would recommend this sub to all except the bass-aholics out there. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Strengths:
Very articulate bass sound; fills my room (12 X 20) very well. Fairly small size. Well-built. Cabinet and grille look good.

Weaknesses:
Won't rock the room. (But for it's size, the output is very impressive.)

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $300.00

Summary:
Specs: The PS-10 is a 250w RMS powered 10" sub with a frequency range of 27 Hz to 150 Hz. It has volume and crossover controls, as well as phase invert and LFE/normal switches. Sound: Well... you can't really go wrong with this baby, unless you need to fill a quite big space. It indeed goes very low, and it does it accurately. The bass notes are reproduced in perfect pitch, so it's also very good for music. It produces powerful and tight bass and yet is sweet sounding like other Infinity speakers. I've tested the unit with some very difficult material for a sub to handle, like Prodigy's "Smack my B**** Up" and many others techno/trance/rock music and it does an admirable job in the low end. When it comes to movies the PS-10 performs very well too, delivering undistorted sub frequencies like a champ. However, each movie soundtrack mixing is different (as well as music records), so using the receiver to achieve a proper balance of the low levels is always a must do.

Strengths:
Precise, well rounded tight bass. Sturdy construction, nice finish.

Weaknesses:
none

In my judgment the advantage of the MG 1.6 (and other Magneplars), stems from the following: = It is a full-range dipole, and = It has uses low-mass, planar drivers for the whole audio spectrum. These attributes account for its extraordinary clarity, coherence, “air”...
