This sub is fantastic! I previously had a vtf3 mk 2, and replaced it with the 3.3. Best purchase I have made in a while! EXTREMELY musical. Would definitely purchase again! Hsu will see more business from me in the future.

Strength:

Variety on inputs and settings for different environments and set-ups. Powerful, deep, and tight bass! Great value for money.

Weakness:

Cabinet is black textured vinyl. The speaker grill is a little cheap looking. But for ~$700, what do you want?

After getting spouse approval, I order this beast right from Hsu. It came double-boxed with an outer box about the size of typical kitchen stove. I thought I was going to be killed - this was not the size I anticipated when we bought it. However, unboxing this 93# instrument left us with some about the size of an end table. Much to our relief.

The instructions for set-up are great. It comes with a demo CD that is a pretty nice way to audition the sub. There are two huge ports on the side. One can choose between two modes - normal and extended. A dense foam plug can be used to block one port when in extended mode. The amp switches on quickly when detecting a signal.

I experimented with a number of different placements - behind the sofa (a Dr. Hsu favorite), sides, and settled for the corner. The extended mode worked best for our room.

When behind the sofa, some movie effects were pretty amusing, but the sound was obviously behind us (at least for our room). In the corner, after using our receiver's Audessy calibraton, the sound was seamless, deep, and significant.

We enjoy this sub with all sorts of music (organ is great!) and home theatre. We did not get the "turbo" box which extends the frequency response even lower and don't really need it per se. However, we may do it anyway since we've become bass addicts. Our Polk Lsi 7.1 system sounded great, but now is amazing with this very affordable ".1" addition.

Customer Service

Dr. Hsu personally responds to many questions on his company's forum. Very refreshing!

Strength:

Power, extension, engineering...

Weakness:

Finish, poping when pushed beyond its limits, it would be better if the amp shuts down first...

It bring to my 2,600cufeet room 101db at 16hz!!!

This subwoofer is amazing. The sub 20Hz pressure is out of this world. Very musical as well as pant shaking when needed. This subwoofer reproduces low-end with a scarily clean ability. Highly recommended
