Price Paid:  $1299.00 from online

Summary:
Stop wasting your time with the department store, or even most specialized dealer offerings. If you want a subwoofer, that actually will not dissapoint you I highly recommend this beast. Its footprint is actually quite small compared to similar offerings by lesser companies. However the moment you bring it to life, you will wonder why you did not hear of this little company sooner. It comes with its own birth cirtificate with the designer, bulders and testers signatures on it. It is built in the United states by americans who also love audio and love bass!
I have owned several subs throughout the years (klipsch, home made, cerwin vega, etc..) yet none of those even come close to the presence this sub has in my house with a 20' ceiling in the livng room.
If you are seeking maximun slam, SPL, depth and durability..look no further. Its optical distortion limiting system prevents you from destroying the amp and sub from over excursion, and the SLapS passive radiator looks like it is meant to launch morter shells. I have this teamed up with a harmon/kardon avr 635 and innexpensce yet suprisingly pwerful athena point 5's in a 5.1 system.

I first ran the sub without running the recievers room/eq and it sounded amazing right out of the box...I then calibrated it to the room (actually the harmon/kardon did this automatically) and it sounds even more pristine.
I could fill this review with tons of technical jargon and numbers but I think if you are reading this, you have nearly made up your mind, or you are still in the daydreaming process...searching the internet for every possible review you can find. I was frustrated when I only found one review on this website, so I figured I would contribute so the next guy isnt as dissapointed or skeptical of the product.
Bottom line. STOP WASTING YOUR TIME, go buy this sub (online is the best deal) and start enjoying your movies the way they were meant to be heard. Just becasue Best buy, or the local audio shop does not sell them does not mean it is Junk, it is simply not marketed like the bigger names are, Earthquake caters more to professional installs and commercial, not ave joes like us who still want our hard earned dollar to go far.
Music also sounds quite good with this unit. When the signal stops, the sub stops with no overhang. I initially had an issue with bass being slightly behind the mains but this was remidied by simply facing the passive radiator towards the wall as indicated by the instructions.

Strengths:
Brute strength, yet accurate..blends seemlessly with my bookshelfs despite its size. Handles quiet passeges as well.

Weaknesses:
Not for the faint of heart, or poorly constructed homes.

Similar Products Used:

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $1365.00 from Earthquake

Summary:
Over all this sub hits very hard with great depth and loudness on soundtracks, without sounding boomy. Musically it does a fair job, although if you were to pay full retail, you would be better off with Velodyne. As it stands you can find this sub on ebay for less than $1500, and I think at this price range it is one of the best, with almost effortless bass.

Strengths:
Reaches below 20hz easily, very deep sounding.

Weaknesses:
Room placement is important, sub can sound almost muddy with bad placement. Musically it is not as fast as some other subs I've used, and tried.

Similar Products Used:
Velodyne, HSU, Mirage, SVS, JBL
