from Spectra Audio Video Summary: The lows are subterranean and can deliver powerful sound, although I wish there was more punch (tightness) in the higher end of its bass spectrum. However, I derive some satisfaction listening to my dvd's i bought abroad and try to be content for the moment. What can one expect from a sub worth only a little over $110? Strengths: Can deliver lows that seem to creep below the floor and I like the feeling. The architecture of the box and the color suits my taste. Weaknesses: Should have come with a remote so one does not have to go around the box to make adjustments. At night, when all is quiet, one can hear ac hum and, even when the volume control is set to zero, there is audible sound accompanied by very visible excursions of the cone. Also, when the volume is increased, the boominess likewise increases. Pardon me, but can anyone explain why? I had a home-made box (transmission line type, Bailey's design) with a pioneer subwoofer and a filter designed for a subwoofer. I plug it in to a locally made amplifer-booster. When it delivers the lows (really very low lows), I get the sense of being pushed from under my bed. Why don't I get this from the dq-12? Similar Products Used: This is my first sub as I am experimenting as of this time.
