Review 1 of 10

Price Paid:  $100.00 from RAON

Summary:
I've been hunting for a good HT sub with a good price/performance ratio. And i think i found one that suits my need. I like the forward-firing design and it got lots of knobs to tweak like crossover cutoff, eq, subwoofer volume . There is a ls also a phase switch 0 to 180 degrees so that you can fine tune your subwoofer.
Overall build quality is very good, from the surface finish and the paint quality.
It weighs approx 18 kilos. Sound quality is very good considering the price you paid for the sub. I could've got a velodyne sub but budget restricts me to do so.
after tweaking the sub's knobs, switches and it's placement.. You'll almost forget that you only paid $100 for this item..

Strengths:
what I like most about this sub is that it automatically turns off if there's no signal detected the reciever which can conserve electricity in the long run.
Lots of knobs to tweak that can fine tune your listening desire.
Build quality is perfect.. the paint finish and the color of the sub compliments very well with my other speakers.

Weaknesses:
The only thing that i noticed with this sub is its not really good for music listening.
There are times that I want more bass on the music I listen to so what I just do is turn down the sub's volume just one notch and all is good. But for crucial music listening I usually turn off the sub. Anyway this is an HT Sub so its just understandable.

Review 2 of 10

Price Paid:  $110.00 from Spectra Audio Video

Summary:
The lows are subterranean and can deliver powerful sound, although I wish there was more punch (tightness) in the higher end of its bass spectrum. However, I derive some satisfaction listening to my dvd's i bought abroad and try to be content for the moment. What can one expect from a sub worth only a little over $110?

Strengths:
Can deliver lows that seem to creep below the floor and I like the feeling. The architecture of the box and the color suits my taste.

Weaknesses:
Should have come with a remote so one does not have to go around the box to make adjustments. At night, when all is quiet, one can hear ac hum and, even when the volume control is set to zero, there is audible sound accompanied by very visible excursions of the cone. Also, when the volume is increased, the boominess likewise increases. Pardon me, but can anyone explain why? I had a home-made box (transmission line type, Bailey's design) with a pioneer subwoofer and a filter designed for a subwoofer. I plug it in to a locally made amplifer-booster. When it delivers the lows (really very low lows), I get the sense of being pushed from under my bed. Why don't I get this from the dq-12?

This is my first sub as I am experimenting as of this time.

Price Paid:  $363.00 from hifi store in manila

Summary:
purchased this sub when i was in manila, for my HT setup (B&W HT spkrs and onkyo recvr) budget bargain price for a HT setup. can bring the bass you need for movies, good gadgetry at the back but gives hard bass compared to may AE 150.try one if you can still find one

Strengths:
good gadgetry, very bargain pricing ,comparing to what it can perform for its price - excellent, can bring the bass you need for movies (can shatter glass panels)

Weaknesses:
no auto shut off,not good for music to play with(anyway no one uses subs for music, it is intended for movie low frequencies, rather pick floorstander speakers)

No, you can’t always get what you want. The number of loudspeakers surpassing the cost of a decent family sedan is staggering. Then there are speakers that cost as much as a house.
