These will not assist if your speakers lack warmth. They have a reduced bass response. Look elsewhere if you require a lot of big basses.

I bought a pair of Boston VR2's at a yard sale on 10-09-22 for $50 and the guy said for $10 more I could take the PV700 and a center speaker, how could I say no. The rear panel is well laid out so you can use line level, variable cross over, or speaker inputs and easy to follow captions as to what goes where and what does what. Very powerful so I only have to crack the volume dial a hair or two to compliment the VR2's and all of my other speaker pairs. I have other subs Sony, Polk, Onkyo, and my fave a Parts Express self build but this PV700 is now my go to. This sub digs DEEP, it probably goes lower than I can hear 'cause I'm 72 now. I use my system for music only and listen to everything from classical to pop. My Yamaha 2.1 amp connected to the line level input brings out the best bass on all of it.

The front volume knob seems a bit cheesy but does't subtract from the 5 star rating

if your speakers lack warmth, these won't help. They are lower bass speakers. If you need a lot of massive bass, look elsewear.

Compared in the seller soundroom to the V900's and unknown model # floor facing $1200 Velodynes. Compared with the warm speakers on display I eventually bought. The V900's were muddy compared to the Velodynes. On the other hand, the V700's were clean as a whistle. The difference between the $500 V700's and the $1200 Velodynes was much less midrange with the V700's. The Velodynes bass extended into the lower midrange and were slightly bassier. The V700's were all bass and clean. If you're speakers lack upper bass/lower midrange then Velodyne or Polk are the way to go. If you have plenty of bass and warm midrange. buy the V700's. They couple perfectly to my Monitor Audio Silver S6's. Love'm. They don't interfere with my speakers bass or midrange (the others did) and give me a good,clean floor thumpimg bass. A bargain.
