Bottom Line: These are great speakers! I went to Audio King to purchase the Bose 351's. At the store, however, they had a variety of speakers, which I decided to hear just for the hell of it. I was so impressed by the Outrigger jr's that the choice was a clear one, for only $150 a pair.

Bottom Line: My neighbor has had his for two + years and they still sound great. He stores his pool set for the winter, but leaves the hot tub set out all winter.
Although it only comes in white, the speakers come with a paint 'mask'. The grill and brackets can be sprayed immediately. The hard plastic cabinet must first be primed and then painted. The grills pop out for inserting the speaker paint masks. Since they swivel I can mount them on the pool fence, yet turn them toward the deck when the people are there. The price at Circuit City was great (approx. 175.00 for the pair) and their setup lets you compare to other brands. Very happy!

Bottom Line: I was so impressed with my Bose 141 bookshelf speakers that I went and listened to the 151's when I was interested in outdoor speakers. I was completely unimpressed. I didn't realize that Boston Acoustics made an outdoor speaker called the voyager or that JBL made them, or Jensen, Polk, and infinity. I listened to them all and found that the Infinity outrigger Jr.'s and the JBL's were the best for about the same price ($200 a pair). To get the same quality of sound in a Bose I would have had to get the 251 series which sells for $400 a pair! These speakers exhibit crisp clean highs with smooth bass without completely losing midrange like the others. The only reason I got the Infinity instead of the JBL was the look. The JBL was slightly larger with almost a window screen grill. I thought that insects might find their way in. The infinity has a tight grill with a nice looking curved front. They feel solid and are surprisingly small. I listened to the bose and jbl at Best Buy and the others at Circuit City. Do yourself a favor and go compare before making a purchase. High price doesn't necessarily equate to good sound.
