Price Paid:
$650.00
from Best Buy Summary: Ive had this systems for two years now and have had no problems what so ever. Not only are the speaker clean, rich and tight sounding, but they also look very nice. If I had to find something wrong I would say that the Autoswitching on the sub takes too long. Not a bad thing, but when there is something slow on a movie it tends to shut off on its own when the signal is too weak, and when the need for bass kicks in on the movie you have to wait a few seconds for it to kick in. Overall its a totally rockin system for the money. Strengths: Tight Solid Bass, Crisp Highs, Deep Lows. Weaknesses: Subs auto switching takes too long. Similar Products Used: Yamaha 3 ways.

Price Paid:
$219.00
from Best Buy Summary: I agree with the previous reviews-- These speakers are extremely tight and clean sounding, and don't fatigue the listener like some bright speakers optimized to sell in chain stores. The sub is fantastic, and possibly worth the price of the entire setup. I got mine as a clearance item at Best Buy, for the amazing price of 219 and could not pass it up. Sound better than the successor system which was selling for $699 new.
Strengths: Balanced spectrum, very solid bass

Price Paid:
$450.00
from Best Buy Summary: When comparing to all other speakers that Best Buy carries side by side(including bose)in listening room, these definitely sounded best! I did A LOT of research and listening at various places, and this system will not be matched for even double the price! The sound reproduction is very crisp, and clean. The bass is enormous, and just keeps going down and down! They seem very durable, like they will last me for a long time. The overall sound is TREMENDOUS!
Bottom line; for $450, you CAN NOT go wrong with these. They are discontinued by Yamaha because of a "business marketing decision" as told to me from a Yamaha rep., and are normally a $900 speaker package. See if your local Best Buy has any left, there are 2 packages left at the store here!
HAPPY LISTENING! Strengths: Size, sound, name brand Weaknesses: none for the price Similar Products Used: old aiwa stereo

Price Paid:
$439.00
from Best Buy Summary: As a long time Advent user (most recently the Maestros; Small and Large Advents in the past) this is my first adventure into sub sats and it has been a pleasure. With the Best Buy 30 day return, and the fact that I was able to get the last pair at the store during a 10% off weekend special, what did I have to lose.
Got them home and set up and was just knocked out. As a 62 year old musician and former band director, it takes a lot to impress me. I'm driving them with a Yamaha RX-V890 and I run a Toshiba DVD 4109X for CDs. I come from the era of early AR, large boxes, folded horns, tube amps, Dynaco, Heathkit, etc. and I must say I have never been so satisfied with my setup. Sure, my younger audio brethern might say my system is somewhat vanilla but for what I have in the whole setup, it can not be beat.
As an aside, I just added a Cambridge 10 inch powered sub to the small Advents (purchased new in 1974 and still with the original cones)that are in my home office and that knocks me out as well. I've seen a lot of stuff in my audio days but the use of powered subs is the greatest thing since the first AR1 came off the line. But then, I remember seeing an ad for that speaker and thinking TOO SMALL, NO BASS.
Bottom line, if you want a powered sub sat system that will meet the needs of all but the most discrimminating, this Yamaha system is tops. See if you can still find one at Best Buy.
Strengths: Terrific balanced sound. Small footprint. Low end just keeps going down and down Weaknesses: They are out of production Similar Products Used: Advent

Price Paid:
$449.00
from Best Buy Summary: My first Home Theater Speakers. Couldn't pass up this price for the quality : sattelites handle 160w & get down to 55hz, sub is 200w and goes down to 18hz. When not using sub and playing music, the mids don't seem to be as full as I'd hoped. When using the whole system, sounds very good for both music and HT. I believe this line has been replaced by CLS-150 which seems to be lesser quality. Strengths: Strong Bass, good highs, seems like excellent value for the price Weaknesses: wish the mids were a little stronger
