Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I´ve just bought the HTP220 system, and i got surprised and disapointed. Surprised because the quality of the sound is really great, very clear, and the effects are simply perfect. Really above the expectations. However, the receiver lacks power. I agree that the power it enough for my room, wich is very small, but i had to increase the volume to -25 db to get it going. The first 3/4 of the volume are almost silent. Ok, once get above -30/25 db, the sound is amazing, but it should deliver 100w in each channel!! I,ve made all possible setups, midnight mode on, and i ask : where are my watts?? I,ve paid for them!!!!!!!!! The speakers are really good, despite their size. Working with the 8" sub, they rock in movies or CDs. Remote doesn´t deserve any comments. Throw it away, buy a different one. After all, still a great deal, if you have a small room. Question: i´ve bought a defective piece, or it realy works like this, only above -30db, and really under the declared 100Watts?

Strengths:
Great speakers and sub, very clear sound, very goog price

Weaknesses:
Until -50db, its silent, only rocks above -30db. Most important: it doesn't delivers more than 50watts!!!

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $399.00 from best buy

Summary:
this is the best package you can buy for the money. it made the sony and jvc package,at the same price, sound horrible. the surround speakers have a mid and tweeter in them making the highs very clear. the reciever does an excellent job at decoding the DTS. now as for the sub, it sounds great, but i was really dissapointed when i noticed it was only 6.5in and not 8 like they say on the box.the sound from the system fills my room(13x12)loud enough not to hear the phone ring 1 foot away.

Strengths:
great surround speakers-reciever automatically recgonizes digital inputs.lots o watts

Weaknesses:
could have another optical input-the sub is not an 8in like they advertise on the box!!!!

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
