I have paid including shipping cost, customs duties and vat a total of a 680 USD. The price was every penny's worth to listen and own these rare and fantastic speakers. I have the M&K S-100B; S-125;S-150 THX and the S-85, BUT none of them come near to the overall sound of the M&k S-5000 Speakers. I have these connected to a Krell KSA 150 power amplifier which is connected to a Meridian processor 568.155 and a Meridian 598 DVD Player
Unlike the other M&k speakers the bass of the S-5000 is enough not to encourage you to chase off to purchase a subwoofer, unless you are listing to a movie with heavy bass tones. For music listening, the S-5000 THX is bliss. I must the bass on these speakers are tight. You can clearly hear all bass notes. The mid-range and treble blend in very nice to make the S-5000 sound extremely smooth. No listening fatigue here guys. I must also say that speakers are easy to drive. It did not even matter that these speakers stood on my floor, it still provided excellent sound.
These speakers have the transmission line OPEN BACK tweeters which sound extraordinary clean on high volumes of sound that I pumped into these boys. Not a blinking hint of distortion. I am telling you this; if you can find these speakers, buy them at any price and then hide them from your audiophile buddies. They are that good. They are also bloody heavy and could break your back if you have problems with it. Try and Google the specifications and history behind these speakers.
Thank you so much for reading.
