from Perth Australia Summary: The Altec Lansing FX6021 is one of the most enjoyable PC speaker systems I have come across. It may well be the best I have come across so far.
1. It does not have the deepest & most powerful bass but what is there is fitting for a system of this configuration
2. It has very good clarity & the sound is natural
3. The overall balance of the system is very good
4. There is good speed & rhythm to the sound
5. It will not match more powerful 5.1 systems in terms of power & surround
sound excitement; they are not designed for gaming/movies but will perform well for a 2.1 system nonetheless" Strengths: 1. Very enjoyable, clear, cris & balanced sound, with good rhythm
2. Small footprint
3. Very good & tuneful bass for the size
4. Absolutely ideal for music
5. Well made
6. Looks good & does not overpower your PC with large sized satellites
Weaknesses: -Not as well suite for gaming/movies
-Sounds like a midrange sized audio system but for the price & intended purposes, the value is excellent
-Bass output is respectable but clearly not the deepest or punchiest
-Thick wires from satellites to sub
-Blue LEDs on control pod a bit bright & can be a problem if listening in the dark
Similar Products Used: My experience with such systems include:
1, Other Altec Lansing models 2.1 & 4.1 (upper end model)
2. Yamaha 2,1 (expensive)
3. Yamaha 2
4. Apple Hifi'
5. Logitech mm50 (amazing for its size!)
6. Sony
7. Bose Sound Dock
I also have a high end hifi system albeit it is around 5 years old.
Now back to the review. If you enjoy music, the FX6021 should be one of the very best 2.1 speakers you will find,,, & that is despite them having been in the market for almost 2 years now.
