$0.00 Summary: Picked up these beauties at a garage sale for $5 each. Bought 'em because my old pal Bing had a set back in the day & we cranked the #### out of them with 'The Who' etc. Took 'em home & hooked 'em up. Not too shabby! I could not believe how beautiful the high frequencies came across. Had a pair of big 3foot, 60 pound Diatone towers with blown tweeters, so I cannibalized the Allegro's for the tweets. Lo-and-behold: a massively beautiful Foster 16 ohm horn tweeter was inside the Allegro cabinet!
One quick swap-out & a listening test was next: Mahalia Jackson on Columbia vinyl! Outstanding! Soft & sweet, delicate yet room-filling, detailed yet blah, blah, blah...All I can say is this: I will be on the hunt for more Allegro's. Those Foster tweets are unreal...BOOYAA!!!!!

from Ebay Summary: Zenith Allegro is a high fidelity loudspeaker with tuned base ports that allow the best bass response to the listener. I have the 1974 Allegro 1000 *MINT* and I use it with a 60W Marantz 1060B 70's amp, and a Denon DRA-295 (never had a problem). One of the best speakers Ive owned. Im trying right now to get the 300's from this guy I know.
( To use on a regular amp cut rca jack and strip the two wires and connect them to a 50-60 W. amp only) Strengths: Awsome speakers with awsome clarity and lower tones from the Bass port. And these speakers are better sounding then most speakers from that era. and some of today. 50/60 W max. Weaknesses: 50w and Mainly Zenith stop making them so there *rare* not to many still exist in contact and working. If you see some buy them WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!! Similar Products Used: not to similar. Bose 101, Cerwin Vega LS12, Boston A150,Boston CX8 & CX6, Lightning Audio, Jensen special designs, tiny Polk audio speakers
I've noticed that some of these products and others I've seen rip a few ideas of the allegros.

from father gave em to me Summary: my father had the zenith quad-phonic system that these boxes were a part of. (allegor 3000 circa 1975...came w/ 4. i've always loved em. bass is smooth as hell.nice gentle treb response. i'm using a yamaha ns series receiver which i also recommend, and a bsr 14 band stereo eq w/ pink noise generator and spec analizer. i have been recording music digitally for 10 years and i have a pair of yamaha ns-10 studio monitors i bought for reference... yet i find myself listening on the zeniths way more. they sound amazing to begin w/, and if u have a good eq they sound even better. i have them on 12 inch tall stands which brings the seperation out more. if you ever get a chance to get these speakers, they are always cheap as hell and you wont be disappointed. (unless you need more than 50 watts). these speakers are old, but the sound is clean on most frequencies. they tend to be a little weak around 550hz but not too bad and u can fix it w/ eq if need be. they also have a bright switch on the tweets so u can taylor them to your liking. im glad i inherited them :-) Strengths: great smooth bass response, clean as hell, smooth gentle highs. very pleasurable listen. Weaknesses: 50 watts so if yer lookin fer lotsa volume... Similar Products Used: yamaha ns-10's, smaller set of these allegro's, advent legacy towers, pioneer 125 watt 3 ways (yuck), criterion 2 ways, i always come back to the allegros.

from Friend's extra crap Summary: I have a pair of Zenith Allegro 3000 3 way speakers with high end control pot on each speaker. THESE THINGS ROCK! I've never heard home speakers like these that are this old... it sounds as clean as possible for something this old and i've got it hooked up to a Technics SA-206 reciever, not sure what the Technics pushes but it has excellent sound response, and these speakers show it off. Definately excellent for Home stereo speakers... booms the bass pretty phat... i never go above 3.5/10 on my volume. Strengths: Excellent quality and you can probably find them cheap to free! Weaknesses: They're gone... no more zenith. Similar Products Used: none, because i'm poor.

from Value Village Summary: I came across an older set of these at a yard sale and i braught them because they came with an NIKKO amp and tape deck and i wasn't even sure about bringing the speakers with me, but i did. I was amazed at the performace these old speakers had and they didn't die out soon except when i tried them on a Amcron Microtech Pro Amp and i blew them up. Later on i braught another set of Allegro 3000 at 50watts in place of 30 and their even better... Strengths: Good Bass
Very Very Resistent
