I recently got a pair of yamaha a ns 2835s and i got them from goodwill replaced the foam surrounds and im very impressd but normally they are more expensive i paid 20 buck and fixed them very good bass clear sound i would recommend shoping at thriftshops to buy and fix speakers

I guess it's time I put up a review with the others, seeing at how information on these beauties are so scarce. They are 41" tall, 14 deep, 11 wide. Sturdy. I power them with a Pioneer SA-1040 reciever, 170w max, 100w rms all day long with .0007% distortion. These speakers are getting plenty of power. I replaced the woofers after the foam rotted out, which seems to be there only problem. The stock woofers had TINY magnets, and would be on the edge at about 70 watts. Replace the woofers, and there's a world of a difference. I had to install ports. Plenty of bass, you'll forget they are 4x8 woofers real quick. Tight and punchy, the cab handles it well. Fantastic mids, which is where I'm picky. They sing better than many of the floor standings I've had. The tweeter and mid complement each other very well. Yamaha put out some good speakers when they designed these, put came up short with the woofers compared to the others. Good speaker, highly recommended if you can find them.

Now that I've finally replaced them I guess its time to sing their praises. The highest compliemnt I can give them is that they kept me out of the speaker market for quite a while. I bought these on a close out years ago with a HK AVR 20 for my first real (not boombox) stereo/HT setup. I've gone through a few recievers (HK to Yamaha to Pioneer back to HK) but everytime I tried to upgrade speakers to get any noticable improvement it seemed I had to jump to the $1000 plus range (might just be my tin ear) For the money I couldn't touch the yamahas. Its not that they were so outstanding its just that they do everything pretty well. Good mids (most important to me) good highs, and a lot of bass. I tried a pair of Maggies which had better mids but I missed the bass. Finally have been replaced with JBL S412p's

I purchased them as a second set of speakers. I really like the amount of bass they put out. I also have a pair of B&W 305's. I ended up using the 305's as my rear surround speakers. The Yamaha's aren't as clear as the B&W's but the bass was so much better. I think they sound great. My friend raved about how great the 305's were. He was even impressed with the NS-A2835's. They are big and heavy.
