Summary: after enjoying many years of listening from these speakers, i decided i would tell the world how great they are. When people look at them they are astonished because of there size and great looks and thats before they are 'fired up'. they are very loud too, 96db at 1.2w at meter is very efficient but not only this they will take 160watts nominal. i have compared them to many hi end speakers, but nothing else compares. If you see them for sale, do not hesitate to buy them because you wont see them again.
Strengths: Very powerful sound from a very low power output, great bass, fantastic look!
Weaknesses: boomy in a small room.
Similar Products Used: none

Summary: These are impressive, magnificent speakers that produce a rich, vibrant sound from very little power. The bass is powerfull and rich making these speakers a rock & roller's dream. I bought these in the early 80's after reading a review in Stereo Review magazine. I paid $2400 for the pair back then. It is now 2001 and I'm still enjoying my favorite music on my E-90's. Come on Wharfedale, it's time to introduce a new generation to what awsome loudspeakers are all about by re-introducing the E-90's.
Strengths: Great Bass, Beautiful Cabinet, Impressive Look.
Weaknesses: Boomy sound if not located properly.
Similar Products Used: None. These are one of a kind.

Summary: At first glance with the amp (NAD 317) switched off, they already impress everyone by their looks. Sounds great too with great detail and a very "direct" sense of appearence of the instruments. The bass can be too much at higher volumes. I put some isolation in the gigantic reflex-port. The bass is dependant of acoustics and positioning of the speakers. I also modified the filters using H.Q. (MKT/MKP) capacitors. This improved much detail overall with a more open sound. Modification details at buraas@worldonline.nl
Strengths: High efficiency, great bass, clear details
Weaknesses: at around 80 Hz the bass is too agressive
Similar Products Used: none, are there simular anyway copared to these ?

Summary: This is finest Wharfedale ever made.I would like to see this model remanufactured.I had E-30,E-50,E-70 but only E-90 gave me a goosebumps.Crafmantship is excelent, sound very good, excelent for rock or extreme sound pressure(127db),sensitivity is 96db 1w 1m(perfect for tube amps). This model is actually 4-way,and if I remember correctly has cuts on 150Hz,800Hz and 7.5kHz.Bass is clean and punchie, very clean and natural mid section, but I never liked horn tweeter, but sounds o.k.If you have problems with neighbours this is not speaker for you.If somebody has a pair of E-90 for sale please send email to totalav@idirect.com

Summary: This is another in my extensive speaker collection. It may be older, but I have found that it will keep up with many of todays newest high-performance speaker systems. It has dual 12-inch woofers (effectively 10-inches), dual 4.5-inch midranges and a horn-loaded tweeter. All the speaker baffles are are finished in brushed aluminum. These are very high-efficeny speakers (according to the literature, the "E" is for efficient) that work wonders with low powered tube amps. I primarally writing this review hoping others who own or have owned a set of these monsters will see it, remember their fond experiences with them and help me in encouraging Wharfedale to bring back the trully legendary E-Series.
