They sound more like perfection than anything reasonably priced, and better than a few t hings that aren't so reasonably priced either.

They take a lot of power to sound thier absolute best. And like I said, you might think they're ugly after a few years.

I think these are kinda ugly now, but they sounded so amazing and looked so cool 4 years ago I HAD to get them.

I got these in the summer, floor modeal, for 3800. Still too expensive IMHO. I put them on stands but they don't need them. They are perfect with everything, nothing sounds bad except bad sounding recordings. Try to find them cheap!!!

My fiancee and I purchased these about a month ago. They sound so good I have to have them on -playing something- all the time! I previously had a pair of Paradigm Eclipse speakers (highly regarded I beleive) but had to replace them with something smaller. The Vö's are a lot smaller but have much bigger sound! Vocals sound so natural, even better than the Nautilus 804s which were second best. The Bass is really amazing. I'm not a big fan of bass usually, but the Achamadden 9.1's are so musical with it.

I wouldn't normally come to a site like this, but I'm just so impressed with my purchase I had to tell someone! :)

These speakers would not be great for an apartment or a small room. They're also insanely expensive. Costs aside these are the PERFECT speakers!

These are excellent speakers! They are a little expensive but they're worth almost every penny. Try to get a deal on these little gems if you're thinking about buying a pair. Like the guy below, I'd never heard of this company before so I didn't know what to expect. Also Mike S must have meant they were $4500 a pair, not for one. I got mine on sale for about $4k.These speakers aren't too particular on placing, which is good for me. And they're forgiving with not-too-high-end equipment such as my Harman/Kardon stero receiver and Yamaha 765 CD changer. I'm suprised too with the vocal accuracy and powerful bass that the dual 9"s provide.
If you can afford them, and don't mind buying from a new company Check them out!

Today I was checking out the lovely Paradigm Servo 15 at my local stereo shop, and I came across these wierd things. I had never heard of the company before so I didn't know if they were mid-fi or hi-fi (They certainly appeared to be hi-fi with their lofty price and bizarre appearance). The dealer told me they're a new company from around Germany and he let me demo them (Though he knew I had no plans to plunk down $4500 PER Speaker for these).
First of all the look; They've got two 9" drivers and one 1" tweeter between them - strange in itself. The enclosure is round, no edges (not a rounded-off box mind you, but an almost capsule like enclosure with the front kinda flattened for the drivers) with huge silver spiked feet jutting out beneath them. The 'capsule' is supposedly wood (but you can't see it) covered in a thin layer of golden metallic aluminum. I haven't got a clue as to what purpose that serves (besides driving up the price?). There are dual ports and gold terminals for bi-wiring / bi-amping on the back. Without a stand they're really short floor-standers. A centre speaker model is also available - the same except on it's side (with spiked feet) and the terminals are adjusted.

The sound; In a word, INCREDIBLE! Placed on the floor as they were, and with thier dual 9" drivers the Bass was very impressive! It was tight and punchy and low. I was expecting not to be impressed with the midrange with such large drivers, but midrange was dead-on - very fluid and accurate. I was expecting these speakers to be on the bright / harsh side with the metallic finish and what looks like a larger than 1" metal (of some sort) tweeter. They certainly _Look_ like they'd be bright, but they weren't. Maybe they weren't bright enough though - I couldn't tell because I was Really expecting them to be much harsher. Overall the sound was more than acceptable, much more pleasing than the Paradigm Monitor 90P's and Reference 80's and 100's (which are on the brighter side, and maybe a very little bid muddy) that were on hand to compare. Far superior to the Mirages that were there too (I don't know what model the Mirages were though).

If I had the dough I'd glady cough it up to upgrade from my current Paradigm Monitor 9's. These Vo (How would you pronounce it with the umlauted "o"?) Achamadden 9.1's only real drawbacks seem to be the price. Check them out if you can afford almost $10,000 for a pair of speakers. Apparently these are the companies Entry-Level models!!

Strong Punchy BASS, Faultless midrange, Crystal highs. Attractive too.

High price, odd size.

I bought these speakers when I auditioned them - they blew all the other speakers I had listened to (above) away! They didn't have the over analitical sound of the NHT and Theils, but were more detailed than the Paradigms. The PSBs didn't have any life to them and the B&Ws were NOT a good value (they look much cheaper than they are, in Canada at least). The Vo's were perfect from the bottom to the top and also aren't picky about electronics and placement. The store was using Marantz monoblocks, I use a Bryston - they sound great with both!

I got mine for $5500 CND, a bit on the expensive side. But I think I've found the perfect speaker.

What the hell are these things? I was at a stereo store in Saint John, New Brunswick and saw two of these things being set up. I read the other review of these speakers by "Mike S" below and it seems to adequately explain what they look like. I didn't listen to them because they weren't connected, but they sure looked high end. But I'm not going to pay almost $5000 for ONE speaker!!
Though I have to correct the other poster. The man at the store said these were painted with a few dozen layers of some gold metallic laquer - I don't think it's a thin layer of metal, it's just paint.
I'll give them 4 stars for the look. Only B&W make prettier speakers!
