Summary:
I am listening to Usher D2 piano-black horn speakers (each 236 kg!) since Jan 2005 when they replaced ATC 150 Active Towers. In 2007 Usher sent me, free of charge, the new two box crossover for each speaker, with which the sound is much more accurate, especially in the mid-low and low region. Their sound is great, with full dynamics (each has two 15" woofers), huge soundstage, excellent depth, real presentation and very good tonality. In addition, human voices are reproduced very naturally and with the correct “size”. Listening to Nina Simone is an experience. Their horn is TAD 4001 and the woofers come from Usher. They can play due to their very high sensitivity (98 db), effortlessly with single-ended Triode amplifiers, even from 8 Watts per channel (Audion Golden Night, based on 300B) or 15 Watts (Geroukis, based on 211 VT-4C). Interesting is that they can play in the same excellent quality level, though in a different way, with solid state amplifiers like Plinius (2X250 Watts) or Muse 160 II (2X160 Watts). By auditioning different amplifiers one can find his personal taste in his own room. The built quality is amazing. These speakers are a fantastic value for money.

Strengths:
Excellent Sound, built quality, easy to drive, price!
Their sound can fill a room from 100 m2 to 16 m2 (depending from the positioning and amplification).

Weaknesses:
Very heavy, so difficult to place and find the correct position in the listening room.

Similar Products Used:
These speakers were auditioned for a long period (from 6 months to 10 years).
IMF ALS-40, IMF TLS-50, Vandersteen 2CE, Totem Acoustics mani-2, Mordaunt Short Performance 80, Martin Logan Quest, ATC-100 Passive ( 5 stars speakers), ATC-150 Active Towers (excellent 5 stars speakers).

Summary:
Usher is very interesting speakers, big and massive, two 15" bass and td 4001 mid upper horn.Work best tube amp.

Strengths:
Very easy load, work fine tube amp,big sound, dynamic, very accurate, bass area is very very good, dry, not boomy all, tell you easy if record is bad.Berillium midrange-tweeter is top class.I am own very many top speakers and Usher is same level but price is much more lower. It is not good as my early Wilson maxx 2,Acapella Campanile,Audio Physic Kronos etc.every area but Usher is very much cheaper.I think it is for price "best buy", and what i am hear other Usher speakers it is same.Speakers cabinet is too first class.

Weaknesses:
Typical horn speakers weakness, soundstage is not as good as Wilson, little nasal sometimes

Marantz MA-9S2 Reference Series Power Amplifiers Review

Marantz MA-9S2 Power AmplifierThe list above has one tenet that I continue to hold true: high powered amplifiers are necessary to reproduce the full dynamic range of music with most speakers. This became apparent when I changed from the 100 Watt per channel Bella Extreme 100 to the 250 Watt.....

Aune Mini Headphone DAC User Review

The unit arrived from China well packed and everything seem to be in place. No external abuse by the carriers. The only problem was the power supply it came with. The box came with a cheap step-down converter.
