from Empire Electrical Summary: I bought these to complement my front MX2's in my home theatre set-up, coupled to a Denon AVR-1602 amp. I wanted speakers that were relatively unobtrusive, low cost, well made and a good match, and these fitted the job.
As a speaker on their own, I would not recommend them due to their limitations on size, and dynamic range (no bass extension), but as part of an MX based set-up they integrate extremely well, providing excellent surround depth and imagery in the mid/upper ranges.
My only reservation is when used with DVD-Audio. The DVD-Audio catalogue is quite limited at the present, but if this is something which you envisage getting into, then a pair of MX1's might be a better option (if you have the space). Having said that, I have a copy of Queen's A Night At The Opera in DTS, and even with the MXR's it sounds sensational! Strengths: Surround imagery, integration, relatively low cost, solid construction. Weaknesses: Limited dynamic range makes them less suited for DVD-Audio (though still acceptable)
