Summary:
I'm a budget freak. Mainly because I have a wife two kids and don't make a ton of money, but all in all those are some pretty good reasons. I found the THC-2's at Audio Advisor(mail order) for 149.00 ea.What a great bargin!
When I first hooked up the speaks I thought, impressive, fairly balanced but a little on the bright side, (sibilence were a little pronounced), still for 150ea they compared favorably to the Paradigm Studio 20s. But, after two days of some serious breaking in, these things are fantastic! The brightness is gone and in its place is the most pleasant, high-end sound I've heard for anywhere near the money. I placed them on some decent stands, lead and sand filled. I also ended up putting a neoprean doughnut around the tweeters to enhance the imaging and got some pretty amazing results. These are easily the best speakers I've heard for under 800.00 a pair and I've been listening to every speaker I could get my ears on for about 10 years now.

Team these with a good, clean cd player and amp section and you will be blown away! The only caution that I have is that, in my system anyway, every change in equipment is noticible through these speakers. Cable makes an audible difference and interconnects are distinguishable and even the connectors on the speaker cable made a noticible change in sound quality. I suppose this is an indication of accuracy but they are so revealing that I now am awestruck by great recordings and disappointed with poor ones. They really let me hear whats going on with the cd's.

The value of these when considering price vs. performance demands 5 stars. Even without the great price these babys could hold their own very favorably with speakers in the $800-$1000 a pair range. Do yourself a favor and check these out. Break them in good and enjoy!
