Price Paid:
$65.00
from Garage Sale Summary: Imagine a set of these hooked up to a Pioneer SX-3800, a BSR EQ 3000 and a vintage 1985 Magnavox CD player. Now put in your favorite Ozzy, Van Halen or Motley Crue tunes. Now run for the hills.
Next imagine all your neighbors moving away. Hearing loss is in my near future.
If you can locate one of the higher model Sansui Speakers, 7000, 8000, 9000 series, I would purchase. I know guys that spend $mucho$ for not. These will not dissapoint.
I have gone through tons of sound gear and these are best sounding, kick you in the teeth drivers I have ever come across.
Final note, don't hook these up to a small amp or receiver, you will not be able to push the energy needed to awaken these beasts.
Strengths: Bass, Midrange, Super Tweeter etc.
3-way sound control
Cloth Surrounds Weaknesses: Wood Grille, Cost if purchasing on EBAY etc.
Hearing Loss (really) Similar Products Used: Pioneer CS 811 A

from Yard Sale Summary: Imagine a set of these hooked up to a Pioneer SX-3800 via a BSR EQ 3000 via a 1985 Magnavox CD player with your favorite OZZY CD with Randy playing. Hearing loss is in my near future. So are my neighbors. So are other people down the block. This is the world I'm living in currently.
If you love music at moderate levels and can stand the heat, I would try to get a set of these speakers if you can. Although rated at 220 watts, I would not try to engage these with a small amp or receiver. You will not draw out the Bass these can deliver. These things will kick you in the teeth (Motley).
I've had tons of equipment, speakers, etc. and nothing has ever sounded like this.
Strengths: BASS, MIDRANGE, TWEETER
Cloth surrounds
Soft, Natural and Clear settings
Weaknesses: Rarity of Item.
Cost if purchasing on EBAY, etc.
Fragile Grille (wood lattice)

Price Paid:
$50.00
from Garage Sale Summary: I walked my wife out to her car in our driveway one Sat. morning, while giving her a hug before she headed off to work I noticed my neighbor was having a garage sale. There was 2 sets of stereo speakers amogst the tools and furniture.
as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes I recognized the Sansui speaker grilles, I hurried across the street and there they were SPX 9000"S with a $50 price sticker! ! ! ! ! ! He hooked them up, They worked, Here's yer fifty bucks. took them home to my Marantz 2275.................Had the cops at my house by 10:30 A.M.
Had a new years party my brother in law bugged me for a solid hour to sell him those speakers. NO WAY he offered me $300 and I told him NO. Despite having the garage door closed the cops were called out 3 times that night and someone threw tomatoes at my garage door at 1:00 A.M. I set these up in my back yard for a party and drove 3 blocks away and it sounded like a live band was playing. My 75 watt per channel Marantz drives these things hard enough to induce hearing loss. I couldn't imagine a better speaker for my application. The occasional Lynrd Skynerd fix, or when someone forgets who's got the Baddest tunes on the block. Strengths: Still going strong after almost 30 years! ! ! ! ! The highs are incredible, the multiple horns just scream. Even my Walsh tweeter equipped Infinity WTLS's are no match.
The 16" woofers get the job done occasionally i will let my son hook up his Ipod for supervised rap music sessions. If you have the means to really drive these things your neighbors will definitely know when you feel the need, to make your ears bleed. Weaknesses: If there are any it is not apparent to me, although I would not reccomend these to someone living in apartments as eviction may result from their use. Similar Products Used: Hpm 100's , Ess's with the crazy looking tweeter's on top. And my Infinity WTLS's which are now relegated to easy listening duties only.

Price Paid:
$361.00
from eBay Summary: Wow! I've been into hi-end audio equipment for over 10 years. I've spent an ungodly amount of money on various pieces of equipment. These speakers... believe it or not sound better than my Legacy Audio Classics. In fact they sound so good im looking for another pair to replace my classics with. I run tubes. The bass is there, mids are great, and the tweeters are crisp and clean. Bass drums are the most realistic i've ever heard. Whoever said these speakers are weak in bass and arent good for rock and roll was wrong. Strengths: Great bass. clear mids, great top end. 100dB efficency. Weaknesses: None.... absolutely none Similar Products Used: Infinity kappa series II, Legacy audio classics.

from Estate Sale Summary: Oh my god, these kick ass, the bass is strong, and the sound is crisp and clear. They were also in really god condition. The guy had 2 sets of these speakers and was desperate to sell. If I had known how much I liked it I would have bought both. Weaknesses: None
