from www.8thstreet.com Summary: I first purchased one db500a for use with my Yamaha DTXtreme II electronic drums. Let me say WOW this speaker has everything you need to get the true sound out of your kit. I purchased a second speaker couple weeks later just for backup and to use for larger venues. Using these speaker gives me crystal clear sound at volumes need. I was not able to achieve with other systems (e.i.: Traditional Drum Monitor systems, JBL Eon Etc.) I doubt if I will need a seperate sub, but can easily add one if needed.
If you are looking for great speaker (400W LF/100W HF) this is the one for you.
I noticed they have gone up quite a bit since i purchased mine. (not Suprised, Just happy to get mine under $500 delivered. Very affordable!
Try it I doubt you will be disappointed! Strengths: Power Pleanty of crystal crear POWER! Thump! and smooth tone
Sturdy for sure. Weaknesses: Little Heavy, system I was using out weighed this by aout 15% so weight not that big of an issue for me, but still little heavy.
Control knobs surface mounted. (Like to have seen them recessed) but can deal with this for the sound quallity.
For some reason Samson decided to place large sticker on grill cover, Why?
Difficult to remove. But I grin every time I hear the things. So I guess it was worth the effort to remove it. Similar Products Used: SRM450, JBL EON G2, Tapco Thump. Yamaha MS100DR & MS50DR Trial on all of them. ( Mackies are good, but just one would not sustain sound I wanted and pricey!)
